This is my second time visiting this restaurant. Overall, it’s very good, though the environment is a bit too noisy. The tuna sashimi didn’t seem as good as the last time. The air-dried wagyu with figs was absolutely delicious, and the filet steak was also unforgettable, although the sauce might not be quite to my taste. The wedding cake was a little too sweet, but it paired well with the unsweetened black tea and milk. I’m very curious about the grapes on the cheese platter—they were really tasty, but the menu doesn’t seem to mention what variety they are.

We were really looking forward to trying this place out, apparently the number 1 steak in Australia? Service was great, but the food was a huge disappointment. Starters were good but nothing to get excited about, we were a bit confused about the menu too. So many options and all different cuisines which is weird when you're paying so much? But the steak - the first bite I had I couldn't even eat, it was all sinew. Overcooked and chewy. Totally fine if you weren't paying almost $300 for it. Absolutely not worth the money and definitely not worth the hype. Me and my partner both agreed we've had better steaks for a quarter of the price. Half the steak was left on the plate because it was fatty and not edible (yes a ribeye is fatty but you can usually eat it). A shame because it was a nice venue and the staff were great, but wouldn't recommend and wouldn't go back, sorry!

Margaret is good. Very good. Albacore tuna sashimi was mild and literally melted in my mouth. The Top Mishima steak was beautifully cooked and so intense in flavour that friendly sommelier had to walk me through multiple strategies for pairing it with wine - which was quite instructive and fun. The soufflé came out not how I imagined it, but was also more delicious than I could imagine. Rafe and his colleagues at the bar offered most relevant guidance for the menu and could always find a minute to chat when libations got me into that kind of mood. A great place!

Delicious cheeseburger but I wished it was a bit larger. The meat was a combination of various chucks and well prepared at medium rare, without asking, so that was a pleasant surprise. It's an indication that they know what they're doing. The grilled chicken and chimichurri was fresh and delicious. As was the buratta salad. Would go back.

Went for Lunch in early January 2026 at Margaret, Double Bay, with a party of three. They asked about dietary requirements/allergies on seating which a nice thoughtful touch. Staff were lovely and attentive (water glasses always refilled), though our waiter was hard to understand amid the noise, and we waited ~10 mins for EFTPOS after getting the bill. Entrees shone: steak tartare, potato rosti, and buffalo mozzarella, all delicious. Sides with the steak (corn, mac and cheese, pumpkin) were highlights and perfectly executed. Desserts (banoffee pudding and peach tart) were outstanding, the real saving grace. Presentation was 10/10 everywhere. But the 800g CopperTree wagyu ($320), part of the “second-best steak in the world” ranking, disappointed: gritty, sinewy, extremely chewy (only middle tender). Massively overpriced. Vibe felt noisy (had to shout), no tablecloth on our table (unlike windows), waitstaff brushing past/kicking chair repeatedly was very distracting. 2.5/5. Great for entrees/sides/desserts if nearby, but the steak fell short of expectations. Won’t return soon.
