A really well managed and maintained full service hotel, excellent location by the sea (and very close to Ben Gurion's historic Tel Aviv home), friendly, professional, and helpful staff. We had a spacious, clean, very comfortable room with wood parquet floors and nice sea views. Really comfortable bed, quality linens and bath towels. Absolutely outstanding breakfast right by the sea made with high quality ingredients, well presented, with many delicious choices and excellent service. Executive lounge is also very good. We also had Shabbat dinner with friends at the hotel, and everyone enjoyed it. Would gladly return!!!
As a frequent traveler and hospitality observer, I found the Carlton Tel Aviv to be a hotel of contrasts.
Its greatest asset is undoubtedly the location. Positioned directly on the Tel Aviv beachfront, the hotel offers immediate access to the promenade, the marina, and some of the city’s most attractive seaside views. For guests seeking a classic Mediterranean setting, the location is difficult to surpass.
Breakfast is another strong point. The buffet is generous, varied, and well-presented, featuring a broad selection of Israeli and international dishes. Service throughout the property is consistently warm, professional, and attentive. Staff members are welcoming and genuinely interested in ensuring guests have a pleasant stay.
However, the hotel struggles to justify its luxury positioning. While renovations have taken place, they date back roughly a decade or more, and many public areas and guest rooms now show their age. The overall product feels closer to a well-maintained upscale hotel than a contemporary five-star property.
Pricing is perhaps the most difficult aspect to overlook. Room rates are often among the highest in Tel Aviv, yet the physical condition and facilities do not fully support the premium being charged. The expensive parking fees further add to the sense that guests are paying significantly more than the experience warrants.
The Carlton remains a pleasant beachfront hotel with excellent service and a strong breakfast offering. Nevertheless, when evaluated against international five-star standards, it falls short in terms of freshness, luxury, and overall value for money.
Strengths:
• Outstanding beachfront location
• Excellent breakfast buffet
• Friendly and professional service
Weaknesses:
• Aging interiors despite past renovation
• Very expensive by local and international standards
• Does not fully meet modern five-star expectations
• Overpriced parking
The hotel itself was beautiful, and the breakfast that they served daily was fantastic. My only complaint was that room service.Never adequately cleaned the rooms or brought the towels and accessories that were needed. Additionally, when I had to extend my stay, the front desk told me one price. And when I got the bill, they charged me over two hundred dollars a night more, very disappointing
Excellent summer stay mid week. Perfect location, amazing breakfast and large room with stunning views. Rooftop pool is a bit small but the lifeguard makes sure to seat you and the pool bar is amazing. Spa is open and free of use to ALL guests and it was very clean
I haven't seen the rooms, so no comment on this. The hotel is already older. The location is fantastic, directly at the beach. Food is good and the staff is professional and friendly.
