Key Information
CookUnity is America's first chef-to-you meal delivery service, focusing on healthy, chef-crafted prepared meals. While primarily a delivery service, it also operates brick-and-mortar locations in Manhattan, NY, where customers can pick up orders. The service emphasizes convenience, offering ready-to-eat dishes designed for various dietary goals like weight loss and GLP-1 balanced meals.
Customer Perception
Customer feedback is generally positive, highlighting the deliciousness and variety of meals, exceptional and responsive customer service, and the ease of preparation. Many appreciate the focus on protein-rich options and the use of eco-friendly paper vessels. The recycling program for delivery totes and ice packs is also a plus. However, there are instances of negative feedback regarding rigid refund policies for unforeseen circumstances and occasional customer service issues, particularly concerning order cancellations without refunds.
Additional Details
CookUnity is committed to sustainability, offering a recycling program for its delivery totes and ice packs. They also participate in programs like 'Too Good To Go' in Manhattan, allowing customers to purchase surplus food at a discount to reduce waste.

Best Times to Visit
As CookUnity is primarily a meal delivery service with pickup locations, there aren't traditional 'best times to visit' like a sit-down restaurant. Customers should check the CookUnity website or app for specific delivery windows and pickup hours at their Manhattan locations.

I am in food manufacturing and clearly someone knows what they are doing here. I have had great experiences so far. Some meals I've ordered 3 or 4 times. Service is exceptional and what little issues I've had were answered immediately by customer service with follow up. I absolutely love the fact they recycle delivery totes and ice packs. I am 67 and focused on protein and there are plenty of choices at 45+ grams per meal and having upgraded choices is also a plus. My compliments to the chefs, workers and management.
Paid for food I never received – terrible first experience
I decided to try CookUnity for the first time and unfortunately the experience was awful from the start.
I placed a small first order (~$53) to be delivered to my NYC apartment. Later that night, I had an emergency situation in my apartment involving a cockroach infestation that forced me to leave my apartment immediately and stay in a hotel. I contacted CookUnity support right away explaining the situation and asking if they could either reroute the delivery or cancel the order since I would no longer be living at that address.
Support told me they couldn’t reroute the order due to their delivery “zone” system, which is fine. However, they also refused to issue a refund even though:
• This was my first order ever with the company
• I contacted them before the delivery happened
• The order was cancelled and never delivered
• I clearly explained an unexpected emergency situation
Their solution? Cancel the order without refunding me and offer a small discount on future orders. That’s not a solution. Why would someone continue using a service that charges them for food they never received?
To make things worse, I later received an automated email supposedly from the CEO offering discounts. When I replied explaining the situation, a support agent responded addressing me by the wrong name entirely, which pretty much summed up the level of attention being given to customers.
So the end result of my first CookUnity experience was:
• Charged for food I never received
• Order cancelled but no refund given
• Customer support unwilling to make even a small accommodation
• Generic automated emails pretending to be from leadership
For a company trying to compete in the meal delivery space, this is a terrible first impression. Losing a potential long-term customer over a $53 first order because of rigid policies and poor customer service seems incredibly shortsighted.
I was genuinely interested in trying CookUnity, but after this experience I won’t be using the service again.
short: good alternative to Factor75 offering more menu variety options
long: I got tired of Factor75 very quickly. Everything tastes the same and not much menu variety. I have been looking for an alternative. Interestingly enough, the way I learned about these services was by seeing the boxes delivered to where I live. I saw plenty of Factor75 boxes, and that's why it was my first choice. The second popular one by a long distance seems to be CookUnity. I bumped into a barber at a coffee shop carrying a CookUnity bag, and he told me he stopped ordering Factor75 for the same reason, and he really likes it. I had forgotten CookUnity has a location on Lexington across the street from Baruch College because when I first walked by it, I had no idea what it was. It just seemed like a ghost kitchen. Anyway, this weekend, I picked up a chicken salad and a chicken meal, which was supposed to be my breakfast and lunch at work today, but I forgot to pack them. Therefore, it'll be my dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow. If I don't return to complain about it, then that means it's good. Update: it's delicious. The garlic herb butter dressing really made the salad.
My Mother and I have rated most meals good to excellent. I love the ease of preparation, the use of strong paper vessels instead of black plastic others use, and the customer service. They are so responsive and helpful. The trial discount makes it well worth trying. Otherwise, it can get a little pricey. But we'll worth it when my budget allows. And, you get a huge discount for each referral you make that signs up. I'm quite happy with Cook Unity.
