The Dutch is Chef Andrew Carmellini's American neighborhood restaurant in Manhattan, known for serving a variety of dishes that aim to make guests happy. It offers a charming atmosphere with romantic lighting, making it a popular spot for both casual meals and special occasions.
Customers generally praise The Dutch for its excellent food, drinks, and service. Highlights include the delicious and well-balanced carpaccio, perfectly cooked steak, crisp fries, and the phenomenal goat cheese with beets salad. The fried chicken and oysters also receive high marks. The ambiance and decor are frequently mentioned as charming and top-notch. Some minor criticisms include the fried rice occasionally lacking flavor, coffee being served cold, and occasional issues with front desk staff accommodation or a perceived limited menu. While many find the food very good, some note that in the competitive NYC dining scene, it might not always 'stand out' as uniquely shocking, but it consistently delivers a solid and enjoyable meal.

Came for an early dinner on a Monday, so it wasn’t crowded. We were seated promptly, and our waiter came over within minutes. The drinks were good—I got a cucumber lemon drink (I forget the name), but it was refreshing. The carpaccio was delicious and well-balanced. The food came out promptly, the steak was perfectly cooked, and the fries were crisp and well-seasoned. The fried rice was good, just missing a little flavor in my opinion. Overall, it was a solid meal, I would definitely recommend
Food, drinks, and service were all around excellent. I highly recommend the beets with labneh. We were early for our reservation and had no problem finding a seat at the romantically lit bar while we waited. Run, don’t walk!
I’ll be honest when it comes to review this is one of those restaurants that was in my camera feed. I review all restaurants I go to in my camera feed and I totally forgot to review this meal because it wasn’t stand out shocking but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. I enjoyed this meal. The food looked and tasted good but again this is New York City and if it doesn’t stand out, it gets lost in the hundreds of thousands of restaurants in this city.
There are a few ways that did stand out the burger, beautiful perfect shape, perfect hamburger size ratio, fries, overflowing, tall, beautiful as well and the drink they serve served this amazing looking bloody Mary in this glass fish, which I loved and they make it just the way I like it with double the alcohol however I asked for this it didn’t come this way, but everyone should do this, but even with the alcohol, it felt quite dark, which was strange
The fried chicken, gorgeous delicious who doesn’t love fried chicken, the steak beautiful I mean everything was so well put together plated well made well with class in style the crispy potatoes so
When did it blew me away though was the oysters I don’t know what oyster I had but it was like smooth butter. I wanted 100 more of those then I might come back for.
The food was good. Service was Ok, the staff at the front desk however wasnt willing to accommodate our request to have our party and another sit close together, they were giving us a hard time take into consideration that there plenty of available tables.
Also I find the menu to be limited.
This was the first dining at this restaurant and I wasn't impressed.
Had lunch with my family here in late summer and decided to come based on reviews. Very charming atmosphere and decor. Was seated immediately by staff altough they were a bit too casual in their attitude, almost like they didn't care we were there but it was just a faint feeling nothing deterring.
The server was attentive as well. I had a very nice coffee but unfortunately it was served cold. I was desperate for coffee so didn't complain. we got the fried chicken with biscuits and that was yummy. The goat cheese with beets salad was phenominal. the deviled eggs were also good but a bit too strong flavoring. But beautiful presentation all around. I would definitely return here next time Im in town.
The food was good. To be honest, it was the decor and ambiance that really made the experienc top notch for me. And also free matches which you never see in restaurants anymore.
