Such a lovely hotel. Breathtaking and peaceful location situated right next to Loch Earn, the view from my room literally looked right down the length of the Loch. The owner is so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious despite it being a reduced menu on a Tuesday. Room was large and comfortable and everything worked! I got a great night's sleep as well. Couldn't ask for more.
The heater didn’t work in the bedroom or bath. The shower was antiquated. The bathroom baseboards were dirty. No Kleenex provided. Bring your own shampoo. Ordered the fish for dinner. Tuff and tasteless. Full breakfast was horrible and overpriced. Owner was harried. Often not friendly. Little staff. Operating on a shoestring. Think they are selling and property is run down. Nice view from our room. Go into the village for a better breakfast, good coffee and a nice village store manager.
Unacceptable Electrical Failures and Blame-Shifting
We stayed here with an infant and the rooms were a complete joke. Power circuits tripped repeatedly throughout the night in both rooms. The hotel had provided an electric heater; we moved it to a different socket since it wasn’t working, but the director personally moved it back to the original one stating that that was the reason for the power trips. Even then tripping continued all night.
In the morning I phoned Sue to report it. Instead of any apology or fix, she immediately accused us of plugging in some high-draw appliance that “doesn’t happen in normal circumstances” and told us not to get into an argument. We had zero adapters with us and hadn’t even charged our phones. We deliberately didn’t disturb anyone overnight because of the baby, yet we were still treated like liars.
I asked for a written follow-up once their handyman checked the circuits so the hotel could own up to the fault.
The location is genuinely great and the restaurant is good. That’s it. Everything else – basic electrical safety and basic customer service – was shocking. Do not stay here if you value a reliable room or any respect when things go wrong.
There was also a suggestion that other rooms had power trips due to our room. No further comments.
I am typing this prior to checkout so any issues — such as responses on my review trying to blame us or shift responsibility — can be addressed prior to us leaving.
Ps response to below reply: All switches were checked by director herself when the heater was checked. Thanks for another expected allegation.
We were passing and decided to drop in to this hotel. It has a lovely Wee Bar with a roaring fire and we got the best home made scones with our coffee. I would highly recommend stopping off for a great view of Loch Earn too.
Unplanned overnight stay,
I spoke to the owner Sue about the possibility of a room for me and my dog Shadow. She was very accommodating. The room was perfect, clean, cosy and peaceful and the bonus of a balcony. I fell asleep to the sound of the rain.
Continental breakfast was great also, I couldn't resist the baby croissants, lovely view of the loch while I start my day.
Extra points for my dog being able to sit with me at breakfast, being a rescue, he's joined at the hip with me.
Thank you so much Sue!
We'll be back soon 🐾 x
