Zemach is the first vegetarian restaurant from the renowned Machneyuda Group, founded by Chefs Assaf Granit and Uri Navon. It focuses on fresh, seasonal vegetables and offers creative, surprising dishes in a young and joyful atmosphere, suitable for various occasions.
Ideal for breakfast, as it serves rich breakfasts and a variety of pastries.

A genuine blast from the past.
Walking in here brought back memories of eating out as a kid in the 80s and 90s, the kind of classic Israeli steakhouse experience that's hard to find done well anymore.
The salad spread is the heart of the meal: a wide variety, all tasty, and refilled freely throughout. The skewers, according to the rest of the family, were excellent and perfectly grilled. As a vegan, options were limited to the salads, hummus, and the cabbage skewer, which was pretty good but not really enough to make a full meal of. If you don't eat meat, manage expectations.
Prices are reasonable for what you get, service was attentive, and the whole atmosphere is warm and nostalgic. Asaf Granit's signature touch is clearly there. Recommended for the full Israeli grill experience.
We visited as two couples on a Thursday night, having booked our table three months in advance and traveling all the way from Karmiel.
The Good:
The service was incredibly prompt at the start. Even though we were only 3 minutes late, the staff called to check on us, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waitress was fantastic and helped us curate a great meal, including appetizers, various skewers, and the 200g fillet. The food itself was delicious, and the desserts were a highlight—not too sweet, perfectly balanced, and unique.
The Challenges:
The main issue was the pacing and the physical space. All our main dishes arrived at once, and there simply wasn't enough room on the table. The waitress had to bring over side tables just so we could fit our plates, which made the dining experience feel a bit cluttered and rushed.
Later in the evening, we ordered two more skewers. Despite reminding the staff, it took over 20 minutes for them to arrive. We eventually decided to cancel them, but to the restaurant's credit, they insisted on serving them to us on the house.
Summary:
We ended the night paying 325 NIS per person (including tip). We left full, but a bit disappointed by the long wait at the end and the initial crowdedness. It’s a great spot with high-quality food, but for a place that requires booking months ahead, we expected a smoother flow.
I have been to this restaurant twice, both times for lunch. The service from the staff was outstanding, it's very friendly, flexible and helpful. The food is creative vegetarian. The toilets are pleasant and clean. I would recommend sharing the dishes, because they tend to be too large to enjoy them as a single dish. They are better tasted a little bit, but some of them may become boring (like the risotto) if you eat the whole dish alone. Ajo Blanco and the artichoke were particularly good.
Great place to sit with friends or even alone. The food was good but some dishes didn't stand out in term of the flavors written in the menu, but still tasted great.
I recommend combining the eggplant and artichoke dishes, great together in a bite.
The lentil chickpea hot dish was good but a lot of good sauce without enough protein or bread to enjoy it with.
Definitely worth a visit for vegens as well, it seems most of the menu can be vegenized.
This is an exceptional vegetarian restaurant. For those of us who are a bit freaked out by meat-
The food was scrumptious, every dish more delicious than the last. We ordered basically everything on the menu for the table and had zero complaints. Such a great experience taste-wise.
The service was great, as well as the atmosphere. Very atmospheric.
We were already talking about coming back to this spot while still seated at the table.
Highly recommended by me, a well known and credible local guide 🌷
