Lighthaus Cafe is a cozy cafe situated in a charming alleyway in the heart of Bonn, directly in front of the Namen-Jesu church. It's known for its specialty coffee, homemade baked goods, and a selection of breakfast and brunch items, including gourmet toasts and healthy bowls. Its central location makes it a convenient stop before or after visiting attractions like the Beethoven Haus.
Customers generally praise the excellent coffee, particularly the flat white, and appreciate the tasty and healthy breakfast options like the Jogurt Müsli Bowl and vegan baked goods such as banana bread and walnut cinnamon rolls. The atmosphere is often described as cozy and the staff as friendly, though some reviews highlight inconsistencies in service, with occasional long wait times and inattentive staff. While portions for items like toasts are considered generous, some find the prices to be on the higher side.

My favorite place ever since I lived in Bonn, and honestly one of the very few places I’m always happy to visit. I even used to arrange all my dates here 🤣
But seriously, it might be worth discussing with the staff that sometimes it’s important to see the people, not just the work.
Because sometimes there are absolutely wonderful teams on shift who make you feel genuinely welcome as a guest. And other times, you feel like an annoying fly — waiting 15 minutes for attention, having to chase waiters just to ask for water, and so on.
I understand that it’s a demanding job, but this is a café with above-average prices, and that naturally creates certain expectations. If this had been my first visit, I honestly would never have come back.
More expensive than similar cafes in Frankfurt.
Double cappuccino totally tasted like it only had one espresso shot inside.
My toast with salmon: very big portion but tasted quite basic and dry(it even looks dry on the photo) - was lacking some sauce. I ordered extra avocado creme, but they ran out. However I was charged for it 😞 I’m sure it was unintentional, but if I hadn’t double checked, I’d end up paying for something I didn’t get.
The food was pretty good, as was the coffee (albeit terribly overpriced). However the service was horrendous. I had to wait for half an hour for a waitress to even approach me, and then more than another half an hour for my coffee and food! This is unacceptable.
We walked past this this place and after seeing the food we had to stop.
Some were having breakfast bowls and most were eating thick toasts with delicious looking toppings.
Few minutes and we ordered the salmon and grilled tomato with burrata.
These 'toasts' are a big meal - perfectly cooked, packed with toppings and tasted so good.
My salmon toast was big (even for me), smear of a hot horseradish sauce just to cut the richness.
Staff are all really friendly, service is quick without being rushed, portions are big (for type of food), good atmosphere.
Fresh pepper available on table.
Outdoor seats wheelchair accessible but toilets are downstairs.
Absolutely lovely food and one of those places you remember for a long time.
