Key information

Located on the 7th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi, Sézanne offers classically rooted French cuisine with a modern, regionally inspired twist. The interiors were designed by renowned architect André Fu, creating an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere.

Customer perception

Reviews consistently praise the 'mind-blowing' creativity of Chef Daniel Calvert and the impeccable, warm service that avoids being 'stiff.' The tea pairing is highly recommended, though some guests find the wine markups and overall price point very high.

French cuisine crafted with exceptional Japanese ingredients — truly one of the finest meals of my life. I dined there when it still held two Michelin stars, just a few months before it was elevated to three — a recognition that was entirely deserved. While the service at the time was not yet perfectly polished, the cuisine itself was impeccable. An unforgettable experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️👏🏻

I visited Sezanne, a French restaurant that has received the highest Michelin rating of three stars. It is also ranked 7th in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 and is located on the 7th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel Pacific Century Place. There is a strict dress code: wearing a jacket or at least a long-sleeved shirt is absolutely required, so this is something you must be aware of in advance. The course menu costs 50,600 yen and takes about three hours. Including drinks, the total came to around 70,000 yen per person. The restaurant takes a very firm stance in that it does not accommodate personal preferences or dislikes at all. Despite this strong attitude, I did not find the food to be particularly impressive. While the dishes are undoubtedly refined and elegant, I couldn’t help but question whether this truly represents the level one would expect from a Michelin three-star restaurant. Given its reputation and accolades, the gap between expectations and the actual experience may feel quite significant for some diners.

I’ve been pretty fortunate to have dined here on most of our trips to Tokyo. It was shortly after the pandemic when we first dined at Sèzanne which Chef Daniel was featuring white Alba truffles and Shanghai hairy crab. I can say Chef Daniel’s creativity is simply mind blowing. The meals keep getting better and better each visit. I’m glad he now serves a whole loaf of his sourdough bread w/ birdies butter. One of the first restaurants we book each and every trip back to Tokyo.

3 star Michelin near Tokyo station on 7th floor of four seasons hotel. We had the main Sezanne menu at 56,925 Yen per person. Service was top notch , food is good but not phenomenal and lacked creativity for a 3 star restaurant. Wines were marked up 3 to 5 times cost and I suggest avoiding these as even for us we ordered by the glass to have variety and the total bill was $1700 USD for two persons. We would come for the one time experience but would not return since there are so many better and lower cost options in Tokyo. Two Michelin stars would be more appropriate here.

The experience at Sezanne is always beautiful and amazing. Every dish Daniel creates is not only delicious, it is creative and refreshing. Daniel is able to somehow masterfully weave in all the flavors of his past experiences and more so cohesively into his french cuisine, making the dining experience at Sezanne truly unique and undeniably delicious. Aside from the amazing food, the service is also quite incredible. Everyone is professional and extremely attentive, but they are all so friendly and warm too. Often times, being in such a well accomplished restaurant can be intimidating and stiff, but everyone at Sezanne makes you feel at ease and at home, which makes the food even more delicious. Lastly, the tea pairing is an absolutely incredible and I highly highly recommend it. The dishes are amazing by itself, but the way these teas are chosen and paired, they really highlight and enhance the experience of each dish.
