Sushi Noz had been on my bucket list for years, so celebrating our anniversary here felt incredibly special. At $550 per person before tax and tip, expectations were understandably very high.
The meal started incredibly strong, and the cooked courses were easily the standout. The king crab and female snow crab were delicately sweet and incredibly fresh, while the triggerfish with white truffle was rich, earthy, and unforgettable. Other highlights included the lightly charred baby bluefin tuna, the golden eye snapper with caviar, and the Japanese taro yam slow-cooked for 72 hours that completely melted in your mouth while soaking up the dashi flavor beautifully.
The sushi itself was undeniably high quality with pristine fish and excellent technique, though I personally wished there were more unique or surprising selections for the price point, as many courses felt more traditional compared to other high-end NYC omakase experiences.
Dessert ended the meal beautifully with warm sweet potato, cold milk ice cream, and subtle white truffle. We were also sent home with freshly popped rice chips made from the meal’s rice, which was such a thoughtful touch.
Service was polished, warm, and attentive throughout, and dining with Chef Noz himself made the evening even more memorable.
Overall, an exceptional and memorable experience with outstanding cooked dishes and hospitality. While I’m not fully convinced the sushi alone justified the price, it was still a remarkable meal and a very special way to celebrate our anniversary.
