Today was my first visit to Leo’s Bagels, and everyone was very helpful. I was looking at the menu on the wall and an employee offered me a paper version of the menu so I didn’t have to squint up at the wall to decide what to order. At 12:30pm on Easter Sunday, there was a very short line, and I got in and out pretty quickly (~5-7 min). The employee at the register was very helpful and polite also. I ordered the egg sandwich on an everything bagel toasted with mozzarella cheese, and the melted cheese was very nice. The everything bagel had really good flavor and texture. I also ordered the cinnamon raisin bagel toasted with plain cream cheese, it was delicious. They were very generous with the amount of cream cheese, so I ended up removing some of it. I tried both a savory and a sweet option to get a better idea of their range of options. Both the savory and sweet were good. I’m glad I grabbed extra napkins, because it was a little messy to eat. I spent about $15 total (before tip) for a breakfast sandwich + bagel with cream cheese, which seemed more reasonably priced than other breakfast options in NYC. There’s not much seating in the shop, just a small bartop facing the street (about 8-10 barstools total), so I walked across the street to the Starbucks on Pearl St. and ate at a table inside, which worked well during the heavy rain today (I didn’t want to eat at a park in the rain). Next time I’m in the city, I’ll return to Leo’s for quality bagels.
I was very happy to see they had vegetarian options, including non-dairy “cream cheese” spreads, and avocado sandwiches that would could add fried eggs to. Because of these offerings, I was able to find a nice breakfast in NYC at a reasonable price. Plus, they have “The Black and White Cookie” (sometimes called a "Half-Moon" in Upstate New York), which is technically a "drop cake" rather than a traditional cookie. If you’re a Seinfeld fan, then you’ll understand the reference! The cookie reached "legendary" status thanks to the Season 5 episode of Seinfeld titled "The Dinner Party" (1994). All in all, this is a great place to try! Their bagels are really good, and are great as sandwiches. Come give them a try!
We stopped by Leo’s to try their bagels during our trip to NYC and were all thrilled. My daughter and I both chose The Beca, with bacon, egg and avocado. It was delicious, but we should have shared. It was so large that neither of us was able to our food. My daughter also had the rainbow cookie and said it was delicious. There were tables with benches for seating and enough seats available for our party of 6.
Bought twice through a third party app.
The service is great, the person who served me is always patient and polite.
The bagels are fresh and really tasty. They last pretty nicely throughout the week, they don't get tough or stale. I look forward to buying again!
So happy with our experience here, friendly counter staff, pleasantly surprised also that we easily got indoor seating on a Sunday around lunch time. Place was clean and lots of natural light. I had the “Leonardo” bagel on a gluten-free everything bagel, it was delicious!
