Additional Details
Longman & Eagle operates as a traditional Chicago inn, providing sleeping accommodations in addition to its restaurant and bar. It features a separate back patio bar with its own menu, offering a distinct outdoor gathering experience when weather permits. The restaurant has been a fixture in the evolving Logan Square neighborhood since 2010.
The restaurant is popular for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Weekends for brunch (starting at 9 am) are likely busy, and dinner can also be crowded, suggesting reservations or planning ahead. Weekday lunch or early dinner might offer a more relaxed experience.

Amazing breakfast! We ordered the PBR breakfast with maple sausage. The sausage is full of flavor. I don’t know what kind of eggs they use, but they were great. The chicken and waffles was amazing. One of the best I’ve had in the city. The portion is bigger than I expected. The service was great. We will definitely go back!
Longman & Eagle is in Logan Square on Kedzie, and while the neighborhood has evolved significantly around it since 2010, the restaurant itself has stayed more or less exactly as it was when GQ named it one of the best new restaurants in America in its opening year. It's Michelin Bib Gourmand recognized. It stocks over 400 whiskeys including ultra-premium and vintage bottles. And it operates with a casual, slightly scruffy gastropub energy that makes all of that feel approachable rather than intimidating.
The menu rotates seasonally and the kitchen sources from local farms with real fidelity to what's actually available. On our visit the duck fat biscuits were on the table almost immediately and they were the kind of thing that makes you understand why a restaurant would make duck fat biscuits, soft and rich and fractionally better than they had any right to be. The smashburger is a double-patty Slagel Farm beef situation with white American, pickles, caramelized onions, and dijonnaise that people tend to mention specifically and for good reason. The bone marrow arrived in the bone with sourdough, herbs, and pickled shallot, and was the richest thing on the table and possibly the best. The fried chicken dinner with biscuits and hot honey on the side is the other dish that comes up constantly in what regulars order. For the whiskey program, three dozen bottles are available at three dollars a shot every day, which is one of the more unusual and generous things any bar in Chicago does.
The back patio is its own separate bar with its own menu and a different, more outdoor-gathering feel when the weather allows.
This is short stay, convenient option for visitors. Room is not serviced during your stay, but is impeccably clean when you arrive. Upsides - superb location for Logan Square, relatively quiet for a central location, comfortable bed and restaurant/ bar downstairs. Downsides - as the offering is perfect for short stays, there wasn't a lot of storage space if you are staying longer (not a criticism, just a reality) and the arrangement of the toilet/ bathroom my be challenge if you're sharing with someone new (again not a criticism, just a reality). Overall, ticked all the boxes for our stay.
What a treat! This place didn’t disappoint on any level. The food & the service were unmatched. One of the better breakfast burritos I’ve had. Highly recommend this spot if you get a chance. But like everything else of this high quality it’s no secret so make a plan if you don’t want to wait too long.
Went here for dinner for our anniversary! BEST DINNER EVER! They were so sweet, even gave us a card saying happy anniversary at the door! The service was amazing from the hostess making sure we got a nice table, to the bartender understanding my fiancé's intensity for the perfect cocktail. (hope we weren't too annoying) Each food item had me wanting more. Finally found a place where I can eat and enjoy the food but not feel so overly stuffed. Each dish was perfectly crafted. My fiancé and I have been on a mission to save up and try all these amazing restaurants across the country and after each of all these 5 star and michelin star places I just want to come back and eat here. I will never not recommend this place! Servers even noted that I wasn't drinking much so they asked to double check if they could send over a glass of champagne for our anniversary. It was so nice to be asked and not judged for not drinking. I hope management gives this staff somethings special because they sure earned it!
Thank you again and I can to wait to come back!
