Really cool new Japanese restaurant that actually does a service to the cuisine unlike the many pseudo-Japanese places Tel Aviv has to offer, which make the original laugh uproaringly. Not all dishes are at par with eachother , but all are solid and tell a story. The best for us was the Ramen, which was both traditional and completely original (if one can imagine that). Unfortunately outdoor seating is noisy from both traffic and diners. Inside the vibe is much better. Worth a visit for sure!

A new Japanese spot, with a lot of hype around it that I didn't really find justified. The service was good, but the place can get quite crowded, and the food was also good but not very high VFM as the dishes are quite pricy considering the portion sizes. We were a group of 4 people and came with the idea of trying as many dishes as possible, so we went for a sharing meal. We ended up ordering quite a lot of dishes from the menu - deconstructed hand roll (with white fish tartare & tuna tataki), smoked trout fish salad, cold soba noodles soup, deep fried chicken thighs, crispy chicken sando, cheese beef sando, chicken thighs skewers and the shrimp okonomiyaki. The deconstructed hand roll dish is basically an assortment of all the ingredients (protein to your choice, nori seaweed, sushi rice, cucumber, green onion, soy sauce and some spicy condiments), then you're supposed to prepare your own hand roll. Considering the price, there isn't enough protein IMO, but the flavors were good. The smoked trout fish salad with seaweed was probably the best dish, and we ended up ordering it twice. The cold soba noodles dish was also very good, with good VFM, but it's harder to share in this type of sharing meal. The deep fried chicken thighs were basically like nuggets, served with mayo on the side. Both of the sandos were tasty, and surprisingly we liked the cheesy beef sando better (a burger patty with cheddar cheese & aioli). The chicken thighs skewer was quite small, and nothing too special (just grilled chicken thighs), so I'd probably recommend skipping this one. Lastly, the shrimp okonomiyaki was out least favorite of them all, as it wasn't really an okonomiyaki but just some shrimps on a skewer, with an omelette (which reminded me of tamago) sitting in quite a dull in flavor sauce. The dessert section seemed quite interesting, so we ordered the fig pannacotta based on the waitress' recommendation, and indeed it was very delicious & creamy, served with some black & white sesame crumble on top. To conclude, I probably wouldn't return here, due to the fact that it's quite low VFM, especially considering that there was not one single dish that blew my mind and justified coming back for it.

We booked Obi for a Saturday night out for a group of friends. We were seated outside which is not the same vibe as being inside. I asked to be moved inside if possible, the host said she'll be able to do it and let us know. It never happened, she never even came back to let us know either way. The menu is very limited and the dishes are small. The inside looks really cool and plays very good music, but that doesn't really translate to the outside - view of parked car and some homeless person. None of the dishes was anything special, but nothing bad. Service while was friendly, was slow, not attentive and sloppy. We had to ask 5 times for another Sake and wait over 30 minutes for it to arrive. They were nice to comp it, but they didn't even own up to it and appologize, just saw it was taken off the bill. If you're a small group, seating inside and not really looking for a good dinner just some drinks and a bite, its a better fit. Though, I'd assume the service will still he subpar

Really love the concept & vibe, but sadly food was so dissapointing. The deconstructed sushi was tasteless, small and seemed just quite a lazy way of serving. It's a fun concept if the protein was more tasty and slightly larger portions. The sides were very minimal and the cucumber was cut so we mostly got the skin. Rice was dry. The sando sandwich was disappointing. The bread was soggy and cold, and it had been cut unevenly — one half was packed with meat while the other had barely any. The sauce was also overpowering. The wait staff were friendly, but they didn’t clear anything from the table. Each time we ordered more food or cocktails, all the empty plates and glasses were left there, which made the table feel cluttered. We left very dissapointed the with mundane taste. Such a let down. I know it's a new restaurant so will see how it changes over time!
