Additional Details

The Michelin Guide, initially created by the Michelin tire company in 1900 to encourage road travel, began awarding stars for restaurant quality in 1926. The anonymous inspection process is rigorous, with inspectors assessing five key criteria: quality of ingredients, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in their cuisine, value for money, and consistency between visits. Stars are awarded to the restaurant, not directly to the individual chef, but chefs are intrinsically linked to their restaurants' star status.
