We celebrated my birthday dinner there (it was noted at the time of booking), and although the food was excellent, the overall experience was very disappointing. We arrived on time at 18:30 and were informed at the door that the table time is two hours, which is fair. We ordered and agreed with the waiter on the serving order (starters, selection of sushi/sashimi, main dish). We weren’t checking the time ourselves, as we were focused on enjoying the festive time and great food. Exactly two minutes after serving the main dish, we were informed that we needed to leave the table in four minutes. We were offered a change to the bar, but we lost both lust and appetite. I felt really sad and disappointed that instead of getting a little birthday perk, I was asked to leave the table. As we were taking pictures of everything coming to our table (visits to places like this are special for us), you can clearly see there was really poor time management on the service side. We were served aperitifs half an hour after sitting down. Only then came the first starter. The sashimi/sushi was served after 19:30, and the main dish was served a few minutes before the end of our table time. It became very stressful and not nice. The food was delicious, though. So if you want to go there, mind your watch and maybe try to avoid it for special occasions.
The experience at 983 Ryotei was honestly amazing — everything just worked together perfectly. The food, the vibe, the atmosphere — it all felt super cohesive and made for a really great evening.
The flavours were really interesting and unexpected in a good way, and the wine list was solid too. The whole place has this very fancy but still cool, relaxed energy that makes the whole experience feel special without being stiff.
Big shoutout to the staff as well — the girls looked absolutely stunning, they were super attentive and friendly, and the service really added to the whole vibe.
Overall, just a really great spot. Definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in Berlin.
Every dish was absolutely delicious. My wife usually doesn’t even like fish, but even she couldn’t deny the exquisite taste of the fresh fish. Not only was the fish incredibly fresh and flavorful, the steak was also perfectly cooked—tender and juicy. Every dish tasted like something you would expect from a five-star restaurant. Even if you’re not usually a fan of certain ingredients, the flavors are undeniably amazing.
I highly recommend choosing the set menu, as it includes the signature dishes and is more affordable than ordering them à la carte. It was more than enough food for us and included all the dishes you would normally want to try.
The service was excellent. If I didn’t like a cocktail, the waiter happily helped me choose another one I would enjoy and even said to let them know if I didn’t like it—no problem at all. The cocktails were consistent and enjoyable, maybe not the absolute best, but that may simply come down to personal preference.
Visited on a Thursday evening – the place was very busy, creating a lively yet not overwhelming atmosphere. The noise level was on the louder side, but still pleasant. Service was exceptionally friendly and attentive.
We opted for the tasting menu, leaning more toward fish and meat than vegan options. While the steak and the chocolate dessert were good, they didn’t quite live up to the standard set by the other courses.
Overall, a clear recommendation – we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Best dinner I’ve had in Berlin. Really exceptional. Highlight (among many highlights) was the amazing, perfectly cooked steak, but the appetizers really rocked our world as well.
