Last night I visited Madre, and I was pleasantly surprised by just how exceptional the entire experience was. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance struck the perfect balance between stylish and relaxed, making it an ideal place to unwind with great food and drinks.
The menu is served tapas-style, although the entrées come in more generous portions, making them perfect for sharing. We began with the oysters, which were absolutely outstanding. They had the perfect salinity and clean, briny flavor, and paired beautifully with a glass of Prosecco.
Next, we tried the croquetas. While they were well prepared, they were my least favorite dish of the evening. I couldn’t help but think they would have benefited from the addition of ham or prosciutto to give them a little more depth and richness, as they fell a bit flat for my taste.
For our entrées, we ordered the octopus and the chicken breast with duck fat potatoes. Both dishes were magnificent. The octopus was incredibly tender with a beautiful char that added just the right amount of smokiness. The chicken breast was remarkably juicy and tender—something that’s not always easy to achieve—and the duck fat potatoes were the perfect accompaniment.
We were too full for dessert this visit, but I had previously tried the chocolate soufflé, and it’s a work of art in itself. The presentation and dramatic reveal make it every bit as memorable as the dessert itself and are worth experiencing.
One thing that really stood out was the service. The entire staff worked seamlessly as a team, ensuring our food and drinks arrived promptly without ever making us feel rushed. That level of attentiveness elevated an already wonderful meal.
Madre is the kind of restaurant where you can settle in, relax, enjoy beautifully prepared food, and savor excellent drinks in a warm, inviting atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
