Tandoori Lands End is part of the Tandoori chain, which has been a pioneer in bringing authentic Indian cuisine to Israel for over 40 years. It aims to provide a true Indian gastronomic experience in Tel Aviv, located on Herbert Samuel Boulevard.
Customer Perception
Customer perception is mixed. Many praise the authentic and rich flavors, cozy ambiance, and quick, attentive service, describing it as a culinary delight and a Tel Aviv gem. However, some recent reviews express significant disappointment, particularly with appetizers (undercooked dim dims, dry samosas, tasteless meat) and report rude or dismissive attitudes from management when feedback is given. There are also mentions of inconsistent service between branches.
Tandoori Lands End is part of a long-standing Indian restaurant chain in Israel, with the first restaurant established over 40 years ago. There is also another branch located in Herzliya.
Started off with a bottle of Gwestreinmer and some popodoms once I finally got the waitresses distracted attention.
The female server was not focused at all probably because I was a singleton but a man stepped in and helped her.
When the wine arrived it was pleasantly cold but not particularly complex, too young I think.
The popodoms werent freshly done and tasted stale I asked for onion to go with it and to my surprise a red one turned up cut into 3 pieces with some chopped chillis.
Apparently the place doesnt know how to make a Indian onion salad which is done with shredded red onions, chopped cocumber, and tomatoe with lemon juice. Never mind at least the onion was a red one unlike other indian restaurants in Israel
Starter was a vegetable samosa which arrived with the pappads until I sent it back so I could eat those first and have a glass of my 40 USD bottle of wine. It wasnt bad and not as heavy or pastry rich as the ones I normally have where I live.
The samosa filling though was a bit odd though some sort of puree rather then pieces. I think i would go for a pakora or onion bhaji next time.
The main course was a spicy lamb bhuna and a garlic nan. The Sauce tasted like out of a bottle but it was fair if not especially hot. The lamb was tender and the right consistency and had not been boiled to death like in some Indians in Israel. Nan was fresh and the right consistency so no issues there.
The pickle tray had Mango pickle which was tasty to acompany it.
They didmt push desert or coffee on me probably because I looked like someone who had been in many Indians before. True Dat.
Bill was 320 nis and I left 30 nis - about average in Tel Aviv with a bottle of plonk
Best place of Indian food I tried in Israel. You feel the family behind caring for all people eating there. Sorry my friends were faster trying the dessert than I could take a picture. The combination of fresh sun-grown vegetables in Israel and Indian family cooking and spices make this a special eating event. Thank you for this experience! Highly recommended after some beach time.
it was a culinary delight! The flavors were authentic and rich, offering a diverse menu with mouthwatering dishes. The service was impeccable, and the cozy ambiance added to the overall experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving exceptional Indian cuisine in Tel Aviv.
We were lured by the high Google Maps rating and ventured into this “restaurant” on a weekend night.
The decor was pleasant but unremarkable, suggesting any cuisine could have been served here.
Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. We started strong with the mango lassi, which was delicious, but that’s the only redeeming feature. We ordered two dim dims and some samosas, both of which were unpalatable. The dim dims were undercooked and the meat was tasteless, while the samosas were incredibly dry and dull. We politely asked the staff to cancel our mains order to avoid further disappointment.
The restaurant manager (I believe) approached us and began interrogating our knowledge of Indian food, essentially scolding us. We were polite and tried reasoning with him, explaining that we understood his opinion but that customer feedback should also be considered. However, his attitude was dismissive.
We paid for the food we had ordered so far, approximately 300 shekels for something we couldn’t even eat. We left all the food on the table.
The restaurant didn’t offer any compensation, which is unusual in serious and polite establishments.
While I’m not sure if the mains are good, the staff’s attitude and the appetisers were simply appalling.
Overall, it was an unnecessarily expensive and disappointing experience.
I frequently meet friends for lunch during the middle of the week and always choose this restaurant. The food is tasty, the staff are very attentive and professional (especially Victor), and the restaurant has a nice ambience.
An added bonus is the view of the sea from the window.
