This was by far the best restaurant we visited in Syracuse.
On our first night in town, the four of us ordered four different pasta dishes and two mains, and everything was so good that we made another reservation for the very next evening. We all agreed it was some of the best pasta we had ever had — we were literally applauding while eating.
We had wanted to try the chocolate soufflé for dessert, but that day they had pistachio instead, so we ordered it. It turned out to be absolutely perfect.
When we came back the next night, we ordered three pasta dishes, three mains, and two desserts. In total, over two days, we tried 12 savory dishes and three desserts. The mushroom ravioli, tagliolini alla Norma, and sarde were especially memorable. For dessert, the pistachio soufflé, chocolate cake, and ricotta cheesecake were all excellent.
We also tried two wines, and the Zibibbo paired beautifully with the food.
The owner and all the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and they made the whole experience feel very comfortable. As we were leaving, one of the lovely waitresses (Robertina) even gave us some biscuits, which was such a sweet gesture.
If I ever come back to Syracuse, I will absolutely return. Highly recommended!
Amazing lunch at this charming cafe. Loved the setting and tableware. Wonderful service and equally wonderful meal. I had the eggplant Parmesan, pasta with Ragu sauce and ended with one of Gil the best tiramisu. Highly recommend.
We had no reservations but they luckily had a table for two available- definitely recommend booking in advance though because they were busy! From the moment you walk in, you’re just taking in the sights of a Nonna’s home. It's so well decorated, unique, and there's a table filled with amazing desserts surrounded by fresh flowers. We loved everything we had, especially the Sicilian orange salad, the mussel pasta, and Nonna’s scrumptious cheesecake! Service was impeccable and Carlo and the entire staff made us feel so welcome.
Incredible experience at this cozy establishment, which felt like we were in a real nona’s living room being treated to her authentic family recipes. Each of us had a unique set of silverware, glassware, and everything felt like it had been collected over a lifetime. They accepted 4 of us as walk-ins at around 8:30pm and we were greeted with delicious bread and oil, followed by a surprisingly great house white wine. Each of us had a different dish- swordfish tagliolini, meatballs & potatoes, ragu tagliolini, and the tagliolini ‘Norma’- all were fantastic. Would recommend to anyone seeking a friendly, authentic dining experience in Ortigia.
Third time eating at La Foglia over the last 4 years. We keep coming back because the service is so warm and friendly and the food is delicious. Particularly love the orange salad and the mussels in lemon leaves! Was extra special this year visiting the restaurant with our daughter Vesper who was loved and cuddled by all the waitstaff!
