We had very high expectations but unfortunately they weren’t met. The service was super slow. We waited one hour just for the starter to be served. I had the cauliflower starter with hummus which was nothing special. Then I had the turbot as a main, it was cooked well but the sauce was so salty it killed everything. For a fine dining concept it wasn’t what I expected. Also we were waiting so long for the meals, it was unacceptable and the staff didn’t even care which was even more disturbing. We decided not to order any dessert because we were already very upset with this whole experience.

We had one of the best meals we have ever had here. Very surprised by some of the reviews as the food was excellent. Yes it is on the more pricier side compared to local restaurants it’s a much more fine dinning experience and I would happily recommend to anyone. We did not do the signature menu and just chose our own dishes. We had starters, mains and 2 bottles of wine and came to around £190 for 3 of us. But everyone was in agreement the food and wine was worth it. Would 100% go again The best dishes of the night were: tuna tataki and the duck main was sensational.

This is what I would call… a “wannabee fancy” restaurant. Quality, configuration and creativity to the dishes was really poor. At every bite it tasted like there were heavily dealing with cost-out pressure. The food tasted like they used the left overs from the buffet food and increased the price by 160% and adjusted the decoration. The wines however were good, but this was not a result of something that the hotel restaurant produced.

We dined at Alambique and experienced a concerning issue with the bill. Our server, who seemed very kind up until this point, informed us that a 10% tip was standard practice here. However, on a total bill of €440, the tip came out as €88, which is actually 20%. When we brought this to his attention, he apologized and changed the terminal calculation using a factor of 0.15 (15%), bringing the tip to €66, at which point it felt hard to believe this was just another typo. Guests should carefully inspect their terminal charges before paying. Tipping in Portugal is voluntary, and inflating percentages on the card reader is unacceptable for an establishment of this caliber.

The experience was not very good(so bad) . I’m giving one star for the view. Other than that, we waited 40 minutes for our starters. The bread appetizer was honestly ridiculous — just one small slice of bread with sweet butter. Then the tartare was extremely, extremely spicy and completely tasteless. The pork was unbelievably rubbery, and the mashed potatoes that came with it looked more like carrot porridge. Overall, it left a very unpleasant impression.
