Personally liked the Beef salteña over the Chicken salteña. Dough reminded me of beef patti with a slight crisp and were not raw. Highly recommend pairing them with the green sauce which made the meal better than good. Thought the rubber chicken was comical as a doorbell (there is an actual doorbell by the window) and outdoor seating only from I have seen.
Finally made it to Sunnyside to try the popular salteñas.
Squeeze the chicken to get service, that was a fun exercise and unique. Order at the counter, there's no seating.
I got the beef salteña and the sopa de mani. The salteña was worth the wait! Super savory and filling, the green sauce is the perfect accompaniment. It took me about 40mins to get home at which point it wasn't as soupy but still quite delicious. It was too cold to eat it fresh at the window of the store. I think these may be made fresh as there was ~15 min wait after ordering. The sopa de mani (peanut soup) was something brand new to me. It was quite savory and rich. It was like the peanut version of clam chowder. The crispy shoestring fries was great.
Small spot putting out big flavors in Sunnyside. The beef saltenas were soupy, savory, and surprisingly filling. Our server Valeria was amazing, helping us pack up even more food to take for later 🤤.
Definitely a spot we’ll be returning to!
I grew up eating Bolivian food in California, and this place not only met but exceeded my (already high) expectations!! Cannot recommend this spot enough - absolutely delicious food !! And I really appreciated how easy it was to order as a vegan - I often miss eating the food I grew up with, but Bolivian Llama Party was comfort on a plate for me
