Dwarf House

Reason for visiting: check out the original Chick-fil-A! Date/time of visit: Saturday morning, ~10:30 AM Parking: in the adjacent lot shared with other businesses. No valet; all free. Party size: 8; 3 kids Environment/ambience: so much to do; there's stuff outside to do. Inside is massive; facing the restaurant, left to right: outside playground, sit-down restaurant --> entrance/coffee/pastries --> fast food side + drive thru. Clean restrooms. An hour wait for table; no reservations 👎 Service: Host/server was great; friendly and funny. Came around often. Food: had the Chick-fil-A Chicken Egg breakfast, all toast. So good. Eggs sunny side up with the toast 🤌. The loaded fries were good too. Water was crispy. Cost: ~$250 with tip. Would I go back (yes/no): 90/10 (not sure if I'd wait an hour every time)

I didn’t make a pilgrimage to Mecca or Medina, but I did visit the Dwarf House — the original Chick-fil-A — which may be the closest thing America has to a sacred chicken shrine. Standing there, I honestly felt like I should have taken my shoes off before entering. This is hallowed ground: the birthplace of the chicken sandwich covenant, where Truett Cathy first revealed to the world that chicken, pickles, pressure frying, and exceptional politeness could become a global movement. The Dwarf House is part restaurant, part museum, part Southern fast-food Vatican, and part fever dream for anyone who has ever wondered, “What if Chick-fil-A had lore?” The service was exactly what you’d expect: fast, friendly, and so aggressively polite that I briefly questioned whether I was spiritually prepared to order. The food was excellent, the experience was memorable, and the whole place has a weirdly wholesome historical gravity to it. Five stars. I did not complete the Hajj, but I did see where the chicken covenant began.

If you’re anywhere near Hapeville, don’t miss the Chick-fil-A Dwarf House! This isn’t just another Chick-fil-A; it’s a piece of history and the original home of the brand! The building itself is beautiful, blending modern architecture with the preserved original Dwarf House. Walking through the entrance feels like stepping into Chick-fil-A’s story, with the original brick structure, historical displays, and the statue of Truett Cathy welcoming guests outside. The restaurant is spotless, spacious, and has a warm, inviting atmosphere that still honors its roots! The food was fresh, hot, and served with the outstanding hospitality Chick-fil-A is known for. The service was friendly and efficient, even with plenty of guests enjoying both the inside and outside restaurant seating! Whether you’re a longtime Chick-fil-A fan or just passing through Atlanta, this is absolutely worth the stop. It’s more than a meal! It’s an experience and a chance to visit where it all began! Highly recommend taking a few minutes to walk around and appreciate the history before or after your meal!

The food was freshly cooked, the service was excellent! The restaurant was amazing, I love chik-fil-a! This location really holds a lot of history and visiting made me appreciate it so much more. The restaurant was clean, there was no wait, we ate in the diner area, I would absolutely recommend this place!

The Chick-Fil-A Dwarf House is a fun spot that offers some variety from the typical Chick-Fil-A menu. The restaurant is divided into a counter service side and a table service side. We chose to sit on the table service side and try the southern comfort food along with some favorites. We had fried pickles, the loaded fries, chicken and waffles, the burger, okra, sweet potato casserole (THE BEST), mac and cheese, and pie to go! This is a great place for delicious food, wonderful service and just a good time!
