amazing lunch. i came here because it was recommended to me to try this restaurant in chisinau and it did not disappoint. first of all the decor is very pretty and the atmosphere is quaint and pleasant. they also offer wifi, which was great since i had no data.
i came during a busy time on the weekend so i had to queue for a table. it was a bit confusing because there wasn’t really an order and someone who arrived after me got seated first, which was a bit annoying, but i ended up waiting around 15 minutes so it wasn’t too bad. the food also took a bit of time to arrive but i wasn’t in a rush so i didn’t really mind.
i went a bit crazy with the menu because there were so many interesting things to try. i ordered borscht, a plăcintă which is their specialty, and a buckthorn mulled wine. later on i also got a crepe cake with cherry for dessert. everything was delicious and very comforting. the soup was a bit salty but it was balanced nicely by the more mild plăcintă, which was cheesy and indulgent. the drink was warm, comforting and gave me a bit of a buzz. the dessert was literally the cherry on top.
the total came to around 12€, which honestly surprised me.
Top restaurant in Chisinau! They also have a separate vegan menu with nice options although it doesn't include tofu or seitan or other protein sources but it is very tasty. I've tried the local placinte potato pie and it is so good. Portions are big, tasty and lots of them already include salad! Staff is highly professional, quick and helpful. The ambience is very cute, simple but nicely done. The bill case is the cutest 😍 We ate here almost every day on our trip. They are all around the city!
Had an amazing meal at La Placinte! The atmosphere is wonderful, very cozy and inviting, with cool traditional artwork on the walls.
There is a great variety of food on the menu, and everything we ordered was delicious. The pictures say it all! We tried the mămăligă with stew, the cabbage rolls (sarmale), the soup in a bread bowl, and the delicious salads and potato dishes. Everything tasted authentic and was presented beautifully. Don't skip dessert; the honey cake was perfect with a cup of tea.
The staff was incredibly helpful and hospitable, which made the experience even better. On top of all that, the prices are very cheap for such high-quality, hearty food. Highly recommend this place!
The food is really good, the staff is very friendly and speaks English well. Can get quite busy (and noisy), depending on the time of day. A good option to taste Moldovan cuisine.
🍽️ La Plăcinte, Chișinău 🇲🇩
As a local, I can say this place is solid. It has a mix of Moldovan, Ukrainian and a bit of Balkan-style comfort food — simple, hearty and made the way people here actually like it.
We tried breakfasts, soups and placinte — everything was tasty and filling. Not fancy restaurant-style, but honest, home-style food 👍
What I liked: ✔ good portions
✔ reasonable prices
✔ fast service
✔ central location
To be fair: ➖ can get a bit busy and noisy during peak hours
➖ some dishes are great, others are just okay
The menu is quite big, so you can easily find something for breakfast or lunch. It’s a place where you just come, eat well and relax.
📍 Convenient spot in the city center
Overall — a reliable place. Not perfect, but consistently good.
