Mayhew Bakery was an artisan bakery in New Orleans, founded by U.S. Army veteran Kelly Mayhew. It initially operated as a walk-up window in Old Metairie before expanding to a full bakery in the Faubourg St. John neighborhood at 3201 Orleans Avenue in late 2019. The bakery was known for its high-quality baked goods and was recognized as a 'neighborhood hero' after Hurricane Ida. It closed in August 2022 due to increasing operational challenges.
When operational, customers praised Mayhew Bakery for its 'spectacular biscuits' which were described as flaky, fresh, and flavorful. Their baguettes and cookies also received positive mentions.

Add yoursKelly Mayhew, an Army veteran, pursued culinary school after being wounded in Iraq. He previously worked as a sous chef at Brennan's and as a corporate baker for Ralph Brennan before opening Mayhew Bakery. The bakery's closure in 2022 was attributed to the increasing difficulties of running the business.
The bakery is permanently closed. Historically, King Cake would have been a popular item during the Mardi Gras season.
