There were two of us dining at this restaurant, and overall it was a wonderful experience. The service was exceptional. I remember when a little water spilled on the table, and a waiter appeared almost instantly to wipe it up (like they had someone monitoring the table at all times 😂). The food was overall great, although the brussels sprouts didn’t quite meet my expectations. The Duck Duo was also a bit different from what we had anticipated, and the meat lacked tenderness and had more fatty tissue than I expected. However, the Wagyu Crispy Rice was a pleasant surprise, especially considering I’m not usually a meat person.
I had the Miso Cod, which was perfectly tender, and the miso flavor blended beautifully with the cauliflower rice underneath. I absolutely loved that dish. We also tried a seasonal special—the soft-shell crab roll (I forgot to take a pic) and it was delicious. I wish they offered a few more dessert options, so we ended up skipping dessert.
My experience at Momoya Soho was really enjoyable. The quality, taste and artistry of the food matched the pricetag. The staff provided a balance amount of attention between giving time for friends to catch up and offering service despite being a busy weeknight. The atmosphere was decent, although I find that my table was placed too closely to other tables and the lighting was too dimly lit for taking any good photos with friends. However, this is just my preference because it seemed suitable for the guests at the next table although their private conversation could be overheard due to the close proximity. The seasonal parfait was the highlight of the meal. The huge dessert is most likely meant to be shared. It's a delightful piece of art. The appetizer and entree that I ordered equally matched in plating, taste and quality

Great culinary experience at Momoya SoHo. Nick was my server and was very attentive and had a fun time conversing with him over my courses. All the food was really great, innovative and creative. Wonderfully complimentary flavors in every dish. I’ll definitely remember this for a long time. Nice atmosphere too, I sat at the bar in front of the chefs and apparently they overheard me talking about how I liked the uni, or some certain texture, so they incorporated it into the next course as well. Very full but very happy 🍣🍱

As someone who is passionate about Japanese food and culture and has visited Japan multiple times, I thoroughly enjoy dining at Momoya.
I’ve dined at Momoya several times, mostly for special occasions like Valentine’s Day. While it’s a bit pricey for me to visit regularly, the quality of the fish makes it worth it—especially compared to many other Japanese restaurants in NYC.
Lately it feels like the options are either expensive omakase spots or places where the quality doesn’t match the price. Momoya strikes a great balance. The fish is higher quality than most non-omakase restaurants, and they offer both an omakase and a full à la carte menu.
Service has always been excellent. The staff is kind, accommodating, and happy to bring extra ginger or wasabi without charging extra, which is always appreciated.
The restaurant itself has two floors and isn’t very large, but the space is used well. The downstairs is brighter and more open, while the upstairs is darker and more intimate.
Quick tip: Momoya is on the InKind app and often has deals like $30 off $100, which is easy to hit for dinner.
Overall, I really enjoy dining here and often recommend it to people looking for a solid Japanese restaurant in NYC.

My friends took me here for my birthday lunch today and we had a great time! We had a nice roomy booth upstairs for 6 of us. The food was delicious! We shared the Brussels sprouts, wagyu crispy rice, and eggplant appetizers. For our entrees, we had the Momoya Box, Mini Chirashibwirh udon and tempura, Chirashi, sushi & sashimi combo and veggie roll combo. The seafood was fresh and everything was tasty. For dessert we shared the seasonal parfait and soufflé pancakes. The presentation was beautiful and loved all the different flavors. All the classic cocktails were available as mocktails and were very refreshing. Highly recommend coming here! Special shoutout to our server, Nick. He was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. Thank you for a wonderful meal!
