What an awesome place! I have walked by like 10 dozen times but never actually stopped in until recently, and I am so glad I did! I ordered a dirty chai latte with just 1 espresso in it as well as a black medium roast coffee. The latte was extravagant and I could immediately tell the ingredients and care that were put into making it were better than many places around here. The coffee was also fantastic and pretty much just as I like it: very slightly on the sweeter side. The staff were super kind and speedy and the atomosphere was very cozy-tavern-core and had numerous healthy plants and natural wood surfaces.
best interior out of any cafe in burlington. the consistent regulars that come to muddies goes to show that it has become more than just a cafe, but a truly adequate third space. the prices are great especially when just getting coffee, the pastries are good, maybe not the greatest selection, but i always enjoy them. i like how dry their scones are funnily enough. muddies is easily described as somewhere truly eclectic, and i adore it.
We walked in here looking for a cup of coffee. There was a line of people waiting. The fans were blowing and I immediately sneezed. I looked up and noticed that the exposed pipes had a thick layer of dust.. like they haven’t been cleaned in years. I then looked at the exposed beams and ductwork and anything above our head and they were covered in dust as well. Like a thick dark gray layer. There was one like that right above where the coffee was being made. We ended up leaving and not even ordering because we were disgusted. It should be against the law to have a food establishment like that.
Probably the most magical and whimsical cafe I have come across in a while- and the reason is the little note culture! People write little notes and stick them in every crack of the walls the plant pots, etc, and it's so nice to just sit there and read the little messages a hundred strangers left just for you to find... going there is an adventure every time and I'll not spoil too much- go there yourself and leave a note too! I recommend their Mocha
