I am not sure what to say about POPPY. It is in a popular location with a lot of foot traffic and other restaurants. They seem to fill up their patio well. And yes, it is a happening place. A lot of bustling, 100s of conversations around you, and yes, you feel alive being part of Paris.
But practically everything is mediocre from the food to the service. And this makes me believe that Parisians are really generous rating restaurants in Paris. There is no way POPPY is a 4.5 star in the US.
Food is just food. Not memorable. No distinct taste. It's just food you can chew on with beer or wine. Oh, and the duck confit was a disaster. I don't like confits too much as pulled meat can be very "dusty" and dry. Well this one beat my descriptions by being literally shreds of supposedly duck.
Don't bother with POPPY unless you want to sit amongst a bunch of smoking couples having random conversation with a beer or two.
One of many brasseries on the area. Quick service with a smile and good tasty food. Got the Salad du Chévre Chaud, Viking sandwich and nachos within a pile of guacamole. Prices are okay for the area.
The food was very good and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. However, depending where you are seated it may be a bit of trouble having to move the tables to get out of your seat. Overall a great experience I’d recommend!
Great food, fantastic and efficient service from Stefan (sp). He was so attentive on the very busy patio! Chicken Burger and small Charcuterie board were both delicious and was plenty of food for 2 people. An awesome experience!
Nice brasserie in Les Halles district with a menu and day of French traditional cuisine.
It’s just closed to « le pied de cochon » which is a big institution in Paris but Poppy is more a family and cozy place. The waitress is very kind and friendly, we take time to order and eat no pressure or stress.
