UPDATE: I had to update my review after my second visit because my experience was completely different this time. I did order on Door Dash this time. I came back mainly for the crab egg rolls, and unfortunately they didn’t live up to my first visit at all. They were about half the size, not packed with crab like before, and the sauce that was originally drizzled on top was missing, definitely not worth the $15 each, I ordered two.
I decided to try something new and ordered the Honey Jerk Lamb Chops with mashed potatoes, fried cabbage, and a side of cornbread. The cornbread was another letdown; last time it came boxed, thick, and cakey, but this time it arrived in a bread bag, thin like a slice of bread, and lacked the same flavor and texture.
The lamb chops were honestly the highlight, small but very flavorful. The mashed potatoes had a strong vinegar taste, and the cabbage was just okay. Overall, I was disappointed, especially after spending about $70. Hopefully they get back to the quality I loved and experienced on my first visit. *End Update*
Wanted something other than Thanksgiving food for dinner and came across a TikTok reel for this spot. I realized I only lived 10mins away, so I decided to try it out.
Walking in, the aesthetics were really nice. The folk were nice. There was a nice size party dining to the side and two other tables occupied. After a few minutes, I was able to place my order. I ordered Honey Glazed Salmon with Mac & Cheese and Sweet Potato Casserole and added Crab Imperial, Rasta Pasta with Shrimp, Honey Jerk Chicken with Fried Cabbage and Potato Salad, Salmon Bites, Crab Egg Rolls, and Cornbread.
I waited at a table in the dining room while my order was prepared and chatted with another guest who was visiting from out of town. She shared what she liked and didn’t like, but I’m a firm believer that food taste is subjective, especially since I was bringing this food home to one of the pickiest people I know.
Once I got to my parents’ house and started taking pictures, my mom immediately claimed the Rasta Pasta (clearly forgetting we were supposed to be making sampler plates 🙄). The food looked and smelled amazing.
First bite was the Crab Egg Roll, and listen… I was singing. These were the blueprint. 10/10, and I’ll definitely be back just for those.
Next, I tried the Rasta Pasta. The shrimp and chicken were surprisingly moist and well-seasoned. My mom said it was too spicy — yet she didn’t stop eating it. I’d give it a 7/10.
The Salmon Bites were another pleasant surprise. The salmon was moist, and the sauce drizzled on top really pushed it over the edge. 9/10.
The Honey Jerk Wings were fire — no notes. 10/10.
The Cornbread was basically cake, and for $2 you get a pretty big piece. Easily a 10/10.
Lastly, I tried the Honey Glazed Salmon with Crab Imperial. My dad loved it, but it just wasn’t for me. Even with the crab imperial, I’d give it a 5/10.
Now let’s talk sides….the Mac & Cheese and Sweet Potato Casserole were stupid good. I didn’t care for the Potato Salad at all, and I can’t speak on the Fried Cabbage because I never received it. Honestly though, I didn’t miss it because they blessed me with two portions of both the mac & cheese and sweet potato casserole.
Total wait time was about 1 hour and 7 minutes, but I did receive an extra Crab Egg Roll and an extra piece of Cornbread, which definitely helped soften the wait.
Overall, I’ll definitely be returning… I’ll just be placing my order over the phone next time.
