They don’t answer there phone I try to call and place an order. The lady told me to look on there website the menu is not much to look from until your in the store. I called back after I looked no answer. I drove 30 minutes to get some jerky chicken Rasta pasta. The cook came out with and large tube of Rasta pasta no meat. All bagged up didn’t ask if it was for here or to go. I parked in the back because there no parking the cashier followed me out to my car. Which was weird I didn’t feel comfortable eating there because of the animosity. So I left with my food I ordered brown stew chicken white rice and veggies. A side of Mac n cheese. I get to my car and drive off around the block so I can check out my food. It was only Rasta pasta no meat in it. I called back and told them I didn’t want this the cook told me to come back so I did. Parked across the street walked in with my child and he handed me burned chicken. 3 small pieces where he wanted me to pick off to put into my food yuck. I’ve paid to get that done smh . Never again then the cook asked if I wanted jerk sauce I said yes walked out came home and I was like that service there sucks never again will I go there again. Barely any peppers in the Rasta pasta
By far the best Jamaican food in New Haven! The oxtail falls off the bone, well seasoned in the rice was soft and tasty. The brown stew chicken fell off the bone as well and well seasoned, and the cabbage was dead, right and the mac & cheese taste better than at these soul food restaurants. The cashier was super friendly and great customer service. This place is a hidden gem!
For all the things New Haven does have, I didn't expect to find authentic (and delicious) Caribbean food. I've been eyeballing this place for a little while now and I finally went. The curried goat is amazing. The rice and peas is perfect, and the cabbage slaw is absolutely delightful. Paired with a funny and kind person behind the counter, and even though I was only picking food up, i had a good enough time that i can not recommend this place enough. Go there, get a taste of home, or a taste of something you e never had before, but either way, enjoy. This place is worth it.
I can't wait to go back and try more of my favorite Jamaican dishes!
I ordered jerk chicken. It was not jerk chicken it was bbq chicken. I asked for a side of jerk sauce ; I received bbq sauce with thyme sprinkled in. Worst jerk chicken I have ever received, I don’t even think a Jamaican made that chicken because it’s no way you confused jerk with bbq. My cabbage was over seasoned smothered in black pepper. Overall bad job you should be ashamed of yourselves. Where are the standards.
