The Jade Room + Garden Terrace (Tokyo)

Great experience for a fine dining lunch at The Jade Room , one of the Tokyo Edition Toranomon’s restaurant. They welcomed me with a Perrier Jouet and a delicious mignardise. I felt amazing the all time. I eat all dishes and even the sour doe bread. They offered chocolates to accompany my black coffee. All was perfect. I did my grand final by spending a little time at the gorgeous terrace with a cosmopolitan. Thank you for a self treat Sunday. I definitely recommend The Jade Room. I might try dîner one day but that’s another budget.

This was my first time at Jade Room. It was Christmas season, which already puts you in a certain emotional condition, slightly softer, slightly more open to being surprised. Course after course arrived without urgency. One dish in particular stopped me for a moment is the tofu skin with black truffle mushrooms. I had never seen tofu skin treated this way before. Since my mother used to add it to all kinds of soups so seeing it treated this way felt both familiar and completely new. Then there was the medium-rare beef wrapped in crisp pastry. I’m not very good at describing food, but I remember exactly how it felt. The beef and the pastry seemed to melt together at the same moment. This is why you go out for dinner I think. Dessert came last, ice cream hidden inside charred orange peel. The smoky citrus aroma instantly transported me somewhere else. Sitting by a fireplace. Christmas night. Time slowed down. Thank you to Chef Richard for creating a journey that felt more emotional than performative, to Daniel for explaining each dish with clarity and care, and to the sommelier, whose pairings never overshadowed the food but quietly walked alongside it. I would recommend Jade Room not just for the view, but for the way the meal stays with you afterward, in your body, not just in your memory.

I had maybe the best meal of my life here. I made a last minute reservation and requested vegeterian and they were able to accommodate even though they usually want 3 days notice for dietary restrictions. I did the lunch tasting menu with wine pairing which included tea. The terrace was closed but they very graciously set me up to have my dessert on the terrace which had an incredible view of the tokyo tower and city. The view from inside is great as well. Every dish was incredible and went out of the way to honor japanese ingredients. My favorite was the dehydrated persimmon with ricotta, bleur blanc, winter savory, and pumpkin. It was such a great mix of flavors and textures. My lunch came with 4 dishes, 2 gifts from the chef, tea or coffee, and 5 wine pairings. The total was about 100 USD which I thought was incredible. I had great service. YW l Q1¹is The restaraunt is a little hard to find. I initially went into the world trade tower building which looks like a workplace and goes to 30th floor. The entrance is actually to the side of this area and has black marble and you take the elevator to the 31st floor.

I'm not sure praising it here will do it justice, you really have to experience it for yourself. It was a truly magical experience. From the impeccable service from Daniel and his amazing team to the calm and quiet atmosphere lightly rocked by the cool tunes of the bar. From the stunning views of Tokyo Tower to the exquisite food. Everything was perfect. Thanks for having us.
