Theodora never misses! The service is always incredibly gracious, welcoming, and helpful. This is hands-down my (and my partner’s) favorite restaurant in Brooklyn.
The plates are delicious in both their simplicity with quality ingredients paired with spices and sauces that are beautifully balanced and unique. The drinks and desserts are also all thoughtfully creative and enjoyable. Almost every dish we had was a 20/10. The dishes that weren’t outstanding were still delicious; just didn’t blow us away like most do.
IE the hiramisa, ceviche, sourdough, wood-fired greens, swordfish skewer, trout, and lamb are must try’s! The corn ribs and gem salad were lovely but not on the top of our list. The lemon posset is one of my fave desserts ever and the doughnuts were delicious as well!
As for drinks the Iara is excellent as a sweeter (and adorable) drink and the martini with celery was so refreshing and inventive for a more savory option.
We are already looking forward to returning for my bday dinner in September. This place is a gem and worth it for a date night, celebration or entertaining visiting friends/family.
Finally snagged a reservation! And yes, it was worth the hype. The atmosphere is amazing and warm. Our server was wonderful and kind. Love the sourdough with whipped ricotta. The mackerel toast was delicious. Red snapper ceviche excellent. And the whole dry-aged branzino, so good. The server also helped debone the fish and he did a great job. Would definitely come back again!
What a fantastic experience. Everything was 5 stars. We sat at the bar and watched the team prepare our food and it was seriously an amazing experience. We got so much food. Basically tried most things on the menu. See the pictures you'll see! Branzino was our fav, the black Cod was also super delicious. The octopus, the sourdough WOW was that good! Fernando, Avery, Dan and everyone else were super fabulous. Hope to be back here again! Reservations are not easy so plan in advance. So worth it.
The sourdough with whipped ricotta is one of their signature items. It’s not overly sweet, which I liked, but honestly it didn’t impress me that much. It tastes pretty much like what you’d expect — good quality ricotta on sourdough, but nothing too surprising.
The tilefish ceviche was actually really good. The wood-fired pineapple adds this nice sweet and slightly tangy flavor, and the sauce makes it feel a bit rich and creamy. The fish was very fresh and had a really soft, almost melt-in-your-mouth texture. Even though it has that creamy element, it still feels pretty refreshing overall.
The highlight for me was the black cod. You can taste that subtle wood-fired, slightly smoky flavor, and the fish itself was super tender and rich. It’s the kind of texture and flavor that’s hard to recreate at home. The sauce has a slight acidity that balances out the richness really well, which made the whole dish feel very well-rounded.
That said, by the end of the meal it did start to feel a bit heavy. The portions were actually quite filling for me, so I didn’t end up getting dessert.
Every dish was fantastic. Sat at the chefs counter. Chefs Dan and Vitor and team were a delight to watch and chat with and the food was fantastic! Beau and the front of house were warm and friendly. Every dish was a favorite for different reasons. The khubz and dip were delicious. The tilefish was bright and bursting with flavor. The maitake mushrooms were smokey in the best way and the swordfish belly skewer was succulent and I mopped up all the sauce. Toro toast also very yummy. The mango and coconut sorbet was a perfect sweet ending. Best meal in a long time
