A delicious strawberry roll cake.
A Swiss roll is a dessert, also known by names such as jelly roll or roll cake, that is a type of rolled sweet roulade. It consists of sponge cake filled with a sweet filling, such as whipped cream, fruit preserves, or icing, which is then rolled. While its name might suggest otherwise, the precise origin of the term is unclear, though the cake itself is believed to have originated in Central Europe, possibly Austria, and appears to have been invented in the nineteenth century.
