This was a really nice brunch :) the staff are lovely and provided some good menu recommendations. Labaneh with bread was a great appetizer, short rib fatteh was tender with crunchy toppings that paired very well. The French toast was lovely, perfectly crisp on the outside. Whole meal didn't feel heavy at all, felt really good and happy afterwards. The seating can feel quite packed though. Would highly recommend!!!

Quietly rated: worth stopping.
We visited Akub yesterday as it had been a while we wanted to try it. The restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide. To start with we ordered their Bread selection - which was fresh and delicious, one of the highlights of the meal. The labneh balls were also tasty. For small dishes we had the Mafghoussa, a courgette dish simple and full of flavour. They did not have the Warak Enab which was extremely disappointing and frankly for a middle eastern restaurant to not have this dish is like going to a sushi place and they tell you they have no tuna sashimi. They however reassured us that they had plenty of Nabulsi cheese, we ordered one and it came cold, with a sauce drizzled and next to it which looked pretty but tasted like nothing. The cheese, I guess, might have tasted nice if it was warm or hot but we did not get to experience it in its full glory… The squash dumplings (Shush Barak) were quite good, well spiced and the dough perfectly done, again not warm enough. The prawns were also very nice though slightly overcooked. The waiters were polite and friendly; very attentive asking the right questions. They offered us a dessert on the house as we were quite full to order any. All in all a pleasant experience and definitely recommended, I hope they make sure some of their hot dishes are indeed served hot as it can make a big difference. Ah and the music is wonderful but the place is quite crammed so you cannot hear much of it. Another thing to consider perhaps.
This was our first time in London and we really wanted to try a good restaurant, this exceeded our expectations. The people were so nice, attentive and always smiling. The food was delicious. So many flavours, great things you can share, very good and versatile options for vegetarians. Every detail about Akub, from the decor, to the food, to the plates and napkins seemed intentional. Sincerely recommend this place:)
One time here is not enough so have to go back to try the rest of the menu. Would especially recommend the aubergine, dumplings and the cheesecake but almost everything we tried was delicious. We thought the wine leaves with cheese was too dry (expected more of a Turkish dolma texture-more moist and sweeter), but we were still v happy w/ the food, service and atmosphere. Would recommend getting a table on the middle-floor as the atmosphere (lighting &decoration) is more special (esp the ground floor has a more café feel). Have to mention the beautiful hand-made ceramic crockery, too!
