I wanted a traditional English tea service. This was not up to my expectations. The tea selections were good. Lots of traditional English teas. However it was not brewed correctly. Way too strong. Also I asked for milk but they didn’t provide any. I don’t think any of them understood English.
They also don’t provide this service for one so I had to pay for 2 people even though it was just me.
The first tray was not traditional English tea sandwiches. There was a pretzel served with butter. While not awe inspiring it was tasty. There were 2 pastries, a more refined version of apple turners.
The second tier, instead of the traditional scones consisted of 2 small glazed madeleines, a pear and cream desert covered with a maple hard shell, and a rasberry and cream dessert. I didn’t care for either. It was too sweet. The top tier consisted of another sweet dessert: thin layer of coconut cake topped with a hazelnut and cream filling, all covered in chocolate.
Overall everything was too sweet, not traditional and fairly pricey. If you are looking for traditional English tea service, this is not it.
We’ve visited several TWG locations across Asia, but this one stands out as the worst in terms of customer service. Earlier today, we visited this location for tea time after dinner. It was spacious and stroller-friendly, so we thought it would be a great place to relax.
The first employee we encountered was welcoming and helped us find a spot to place our stroller. However, a few minutes later, a different employee came in and told us to move our stroller, even though it wasn’t in the way. We complied, but it was still inconvenient.
During our tea time, my 5-month-old baby got excited and started giggling when kissing her grandpa. The same employee who asked us to move our stroller then came over and told us to quiet the baby down. She didn’t ask us nicely; she seemed personally bothered by the baby’s giggles. My baby wasn’t even crying or throwing a tantrum; she was just happy and excited to spend time with her grandpa. It was just normal baby giggles, and how can we stop a happy baby from smiling and laughing?
While other customers in the store were minding their own business and no one seemed bothered, the rude staff wanted to make sure to stop the little 5-month-old from giggling. We spent 18,000 KRW for each cup of tea for four of us, which came to 76,000 KRW, plus 6 macarons. We left immediately after our experience.
If you’re visiting Seoul and craving TWG, please avoid this location. I recommend visiting TWG at Avenual Jamsil instead.
Not friendly at all. We were 3 persons and there were tables with 2 chairs available. They said it is all unavailable. We confronted them and they said we could sit on the 2 seats table. However, after waiting some time I asked whether they would bring an extra chair (only 3 of all the tables were basically occupied) to which the waitress said - no. We have never had SO poor service in any other TwG in neither Dubai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok… considering to drop a letter to Singapore. Also the English of the staff was so so. The worst part is: they have placed 2 persons on a 4 seats table! They were having a business meeting and it was pretty loud!
