Bar Purlieu

One of my absolute favorite Eugene restaurants, Bar Purlieu offers incredible French dishes and cocktails. Walking in, there's an immediately calming atmosphere that sets a good tone for the meal. We had a nice night out with pommes frites and baked Raclette cheese for appetizers. For mains we shared the duck confit over cassoulet as well as a creamy wild mushroom tart. And for dessert, a decadent pistachio butter pie. Everything was rich and flavorful. The fresh high quality ingredients shine through every single dish. The mushroom tart was my favorite dish. As far as atmosphere and service, the dining space is intimate with low lighting in the evening. The servers were knowledgeable and very friendly. All the food came out quickly, and I had no complaints whatsoever about the staff. This is certainly one of the pricier restaurants in Eugene but I can confidently say the price is worth it for a special night out.

Come at 4pm to avoid the crowds. It’s all about texture and balance here! There’s a garden in every bite - love the blend with seasonal veggies: 1. escargot: super crisp crostini perfectly soaks up butter (not garlic) 2. fried cauliflower smoked cheddar: very cheesy so save crostini for this - soggy due to sauce, I’d try the garlic sauce next time 3. blistered snap peas: SO much freshness in the first bite, recommended! 4. gem Caesar salad: so flavorful especially the shaved salted egg yolk (favorite Caesars ever!) 5. seared sea scallops: fresh scallops, you can taste it, excellent 6. grilled octopus: my favorite dish thanks to cilantro pesto sauce 7. ribeye: just wow! Medium rare closer to rare but so good thanks to perfect sauce balance

A friend and I had a great dinner here the other day. We sat outside which was a little chilly but they had heaters so we were warm. The scallops were cooked to perfection so was the lamb. The drinks were unique and delicious as well. Definitely recommend dining here. I think next time I’d like to try the chefs menu with the wine pairing. A couple next to us had that and it looked delicious!!

went here with my boyfriend for our anniversary and it was amaziiing! the lamb was soo tender but still moist and the fettuccine was superb. our waiter was very kind and gave me my desert for free 😁. will be coming back here for the spring menu.

Fun, inviting atmosphere with fun flavors that were a first for me! This was my second visit, and it was on Halloween night. The staff and clientele were spectacularly spooky. Fresh flowers adorned the dishes. The oysters were so good… my son even had two! The ribs and the dessert were fantastic!!!
