If you’re looking for one of the best lunch spots on the East End, do yourself a favor and make your way to Farm Country Kitchen.
We stopped in for lunch the other day and left wondering why we don’t come here more often. The setting alone is worth the visit. Tucked along the Peconic River, Farm Country Kitchen offers one of the most peaceful and picturesque outdoor dining experiences in Riverhead. Add in the fact that it’s dog-friendly, and you’ve got the perfect place to spend an afternoon soaking in everything that makes the East End special.
The restaurant itself occupies a historic waterfront space that feels like old Riverhead in all the best ways. Sitting by the river, watching kayakers paddle by and enjoying the breeze coming off the water, it’s easy to forget you’re only minutes from downtown.
As for the food, it absolutely delivered.
From the specials menu, the standout for me was the Shrimp Wrap — grilled shrimp wrapped with spinach and romaine, tomato, diced cucumbers, chickpeas, sliced avocado, and a sesame ginger dressing, served with potato salad. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want on a warm afternoon by the water.
My other recommendation is The New England, a toasted soft roll loaded with breaded shrimp, melted cheddar, remoulade, and tomato, served alongside a pasta salad. Comfort food done right, with generous portions and fantastic flavor.
To wash it all down, we both ordered the Passionfruit Margaritas, which were absolutely delicious. Refreshing, perfectly balanced, and dangerous in the way that the best margaritas always are—they go down way too easily.
Great food, friendly service, beautiful river views, and a welcoming atmosphere for both people and pups. Whether you’re a local or visiting the North Fork, Farm Country Kitchen is exactly the kind of place that reminds you what Riverhead and the Peconic River are all about.
Highly recommended. We’ll definitely be back.
