Loved the class. We first went to the local market where they explained the importance of each of the herbs. Then we had a local coffee/ tea break.
Back at the school we made fresh green chile paste which involved a lot of rigorous pounding to create the perfect consistency. What a great way to get rid of frustrations!
From there we made beef green curry and 3 other dishes.
Finally we eat our creations.
It was great fun for everyone in the class, from the 6 year old boy to the adults.
It’s a great way to experience Thai food.
Three of us had dinner at the Blue Elephant in January on our way back from the Middle East en route home to Sydney.
There are two locations that I’m aware of in Bangkok, as we were staying at the IHG, Sathorn proved to be more convenient for us, and the staff at both locations were very helpful over email recommending options for us.
The restaurant is housed in a beautiful gracious building which appeared to have been a private home at some stage perhaps. There’s an old world charm in the dining room we were seated in (facing the street but the building is set back from the road, so no noise or disturbance). The staff were welcoming and helpful, you can expect to receive warm appreciative service in Thailand.
We chose a curry, a salad, a beautiful duck dish, and we shared some morning glory and dessert. Don’t be too hung up about what we had, because the menu changes from time to time, but be assured that everything you’re going to order is going to be delicious. I don’t have a gripe about by of it, but if I were pressed to suggest an improvement, I would recommend they amp the flavour up a bit to give it a more authentic feel - that could be by offering a lashing of chili on the side of each plate, or whatever works to give the dishes a bit more bite. Just a tad too europeanised for my taste.
I want to add that the staff and the management went out of their way to ensure we got transport back to our hotel as it was a Friday night and we couldn’t get an uber for a good 30 minutes. They arranged a taxi and waited with us, and made sure we were on our way before returning to their posts. You wouldn’t imagine this happening in any other country.
It’s a lovely place to dine and I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed.

The experience was so great we had to go back to back nights! First evening included Rose Spring rolls then two main dishes including Tiger prawn pad Thai and the Massaman Lamb to conclude with their specialty dessert the Jasmine Pistachio Cake. Vijay our evenings waiter was excellent with the explanation and service of each course. We decided to try their specialty teas with our meal which was also a great choice!
The second evening we had Pink Pomelo salad Prawn Cakes, Forgotten Beef Curry and Blue Elephants Famous Spare Ribs. Same dessert because we loved it! Our second we were lucky to have Kookai as our waitress who was amazing i with her suggestions plus explanations.
Blue Elephant hits the mark with a romantic atmosphere, unique fine dining and friendly staff from the moment you walk in to the moment we left.
Don't miss out if your a foodie in Thailand, thank you so much Blue Elephant team for a best dining experience!

Had a very lovely lunch with good friends. Food was authentic, presentation was very unique and tasteful and cutlery was beautiful. Service was top notch too. Ladies received a stalk of orchid each before leaving the place with wonderful memories. Highly recommend.

First time here and tried their Heritage Menu and I was in awe! Food is delicious and delicately presented, love how fresh flowers are being used in the restaurant and food decoration. The bonus of the day was when I had a chance to meet and take a photo with Master Chef Noorer and Chef Kris! Highly recommended 👍👍
