Das Piazza is a charming lakefront Italian restaurant located directly on the shores of Lake Maggiore in Ascona, Switzerland. It is part of the Vista Hotels & Restaurants SA group and offers a relaxed atmosphere with traditional, fresh, and lovingly prepared dishes, often highlighted by its gorgeous views.
Customers generally praise the excellent service, with staff members like Jonata and Vasco receiving special mentions for being helpful, kind, and attentive. The food, particularly the pizza (like Buffala and Marinara) and tiramisu, is often described as incredible and delicious. The restaurant's location with a beautiful lake view is a significant draw. However, some customers have found the prices to be on the higher side (e.g., 25 CHF for Caprese) and have reported issues with slow service for additional requests (like water or cheese) and, notably, unexpected refusal of card payments, forcing them to seek ATMs.
Das Piazza is open year-round and is part of the Vista Hotels & Restaurants SA, which also includes the Vista Lakefront Boutique Hotel in Ascona.
Evenings, especially around sunset, are highly recommended to enjoy the beautiful lake views while dining.
