Key Information
Delmonico's is America's first fine dining steakhouse, operating since 1837. It is renowned for its rich history, iconic American hospitality, and for originating several classic dishes. The restaurant offers a legendary dining experience in a renovated, historic ambiance in Manhattan's Financial District.
Customer Perception
Customers consistently praise Delmonico's for its amazing food, particularly the signature Delmonico ribeye and Baked Alaska, often describing dishes as perfectly cooked and delicious. The historical ambiance and overall dining experience are highly valued, making it a popular choice for special occasions. Service is generally top-notch, though some reviews note it can be slow or inconsistent during peak, crowded times. It is considered an expensive, upscale establishment.
Delmonico's is credited with inventing several famous dishes, including the Delmonico Steak, Baked Alaska, Lobster Newberg, and Eggs Benedict. Some reviews mention a discount for cash payments.
Visiting during lunch, especially on a weekday, is recommended for a quieter atmosphere and more attentive service, as the kitchen and staff may struggle to maintain quality under pressure during crowded evening hours.

I had the pleasure of dining at Delmonico twice during this fall’s NYC Restaurant Week, and both experiences were wonderful.
There’s something special about dining at a restaurant with so much history, and Delmonico’s lovely dining room really adds to the experience. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding—attentive, professional, and welcoming!
I truly enjoyed both visits and was impressed by the overall experience. I would definitely love to come back in the future to try more dishes from the menu.
Was a great deal first time they they did restaurant week, alas no longer. The menu's essentially the same with the lack of a smaller Delmonico cut and higher supplement cost for regular menu steak. The history, ambiance is still there after the renovation.
We were seated by my estimate literally the farthest table from the entrance. The apps were great, good bread room tenp butter, thick cut bacon and exquisite crab cake enclosed in a lattice. The steaks come out cooked to perfection, most of the table weren't able to finish the regular Delmonico's eye. Finally a tableside flambe baked Alaska capped off the meal.
Service was a bit slow, partly due to how packed it wqs, and our table location. And a bit surprising there is a discount for cash payment
We checked this place out for dinner recently and really enjoyed it. The building is really cool, with a lot of history. Definitely worth reading up on, especially all of the dishes that allegedly started at Delmonico’s. We had a cozy little two-top table in a smaller dining past the main bar. Our server was friendly but overall, our service was pretty slow. We both enjoyed our glasses of wine and the yellowtail crudo appetizer. The complimentary sourdough and corn bread had good flavor, especially with the butter with Hawaiian salt. My wife ordered the 10oz filet and I ordered the 12oz Delmonico eye. Both were cooked perfectly. The Delmonico potatoes were excellent. It took a little while to get the check, so while we waited for it, my wife went to the coat check to get our coats. As I was getting up to leave, the server brought us a scoop of ice cream with a chocolate that read “Happy Anniversary.” That was a nice touch even though we were already leaving. We would definitely check this place out again to try more menu items.
For our most important dinner, we chose Delmonico’s and it was definitely a hit. We decided to celebrate our engagement in this iconic restaurant and they definitely met absolutely all our expectations, I would say even more than that!
This is a restaurant with incredible energy and an extremely rich history.
You can immediately see that Delmonico’s is on higher level than other restaurants. From the very entrance to the restaurant where we were greeted by smiling and polite girls who welcome guests, to our server - Maria. She was brilliant, so cheerful, smiling and warm, really worthy of every compliment! Also all the other servers were so kind and nice. The food was incredible, I have nothing else to say.
We would also like to thank Mr. Branko and Mr. Darko who made our experience at Delmonico’s unforgettable. Thank you from the bottom of our heart for that!
If you want to celebrate a special moment in your life, definitely choose the Delmonico’s restaurant and you will be delighted and full of beautiful memories, just like we were.
We wish the entire team at Delmonico’s a lot of success! We have found our favorite restaurant in New York and can't wait for the first opportunity to return to it.
Absolutely hands down best meal in the financial district! Get the Baked Alaska for dessert trust me on this one. NY strip was perfect. Crust was simple but flavorful. Complemented the steak. Service was top notch! 10/10 will be back!
