Beautiful interior and such a great atmosphere overall. The hostesses were incredibly sweet and accommodating from the moment we arrived. We did end up moving from our original reserved seats because that side of the restaurant was awfully hot, but the staff handled it kindly and quickly which I appreciated.
Now onto the food — the truffle mushroom fried rice was delicious. It leaned a little salty for my personal taste, but it was still very well cooked with a crisp, savory lingering flavor that kept me going back for more. We also ordered the wagyu, which honestly melted in your mouth exactly how wagyu should, and the scallops were absolutely delicious as well.
I will say since the restaurant is still fairly new and extremely busy, it was a little difficult getting our server’s attention at times. The staff all seemed very overwhelmed and a bit understaffed. That said, everyone was still pleasant throughout the night and the food definitely made up for it
The Happy Hour menu was the reason Jennifer and I came here. Double Knot is newly opened and is located on West 51st Street. HH runs from 4 to 6 pm. On entering, the interior is fairly dark and looks romantic. There are two parts to this restaurant one of which is on the ground floor and the other in the lower ground floor. Both have the same menu and the one below is more quiet. The food selections are Asian with sushi, Japanese fried chicken, dumplings etc. Jen ordered the cauliflower with yuzu, kombu and cashews and the chili crisp chicken bao. I chose the grilled chicken thigh, the same bao and Brussels sprouts with puffed rice which though unusual gave it an extra crunchy bite. Jen's non alcoholic cocktail of rum and pineapple, The Baja Knot, was a tad sour so a helping of simple syrup worked wonders. The Carrick Hitch with n/a gin, lychee and Thai basil was delicious so much so that I would like to have it again. Both baos of the crisp chicken baos were hard and leathery. Considering that this is an Asian restaurant, it seems peculiar that this basic item was disappointing. Service was fine and unobtrusive. The restrooms are downstairs which one can go down three flights of stairs and then come back up via an elevator.
Newly opened Asian fusion restaurant in midtown Manhattan. They also have locations in Philadelphia and Miami.
Ultra fancy and nightclub-like atmosphere.
