We were floating through Portland for our senior trip and heard about this place … so we stopped by … long lines and wait about 45 mins but when we were seated service was fast!! Christian our server was very good Drinks were good The food was very flavorful… some of the best oysters I have tasted! We did the smoked fish dip, lobster roll, England chowder and the oysters! Loved every bit of it. I wish I could order everything off the menu And

Eventide was a very good restaurant overall, but I have to push back on the hype around the lobster roll. We started with oysters, which were extremely fresh and delicious. I liked the idea of the horseradish ice, but in practice it just didn’t work for me. There was almost no horseradish flavor at all, so the concept sounded more interesting than it actually tasted. The lobster roll was good—well prepared, fresh, and enjoyable—but nowhere near the best lobster roll in Maine. After seeing Eventide ranked so highly on so many lists, I honestly left a little frustrated. We had several lobster rolls throughout the state that I would put comfortably ahead of this one. We also tried the scallop waffle. It was an interesting dish and I liked the creativity behind it, but there were essentially no discernible scallops to be found, which was disappointing considering that’s what drew us to the dish. Overall, Eventide is absolutely a good restaurant. The seafood is fresh, the menu is creative, and I can understand why people enjoy it. But if you’re coming here specifically because you’ve been told this is one of the best lobster rolls in Maine, keep looking. There are much better lobster rolls elsewhere in the state.

Best oyster place in Portland ME, without a doubt. You will wait in line maybe 10-15 minutes for the best experience relating to seafood you will have for this town. From lobster rolls to oysters on the half shell the staff will guide and help you and despite it being a terse environment to get into- you will enjoy every moment and feeling this place provides once you’re seated. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and the drink menu is excellent. This place is for seafood lovers and has options for those who enjoy land options too. But come for the oysters, ambiance, and fantastic vibe.

A friend who used to live in Portland recommended this place and I'm so glad she did! There was a line to check in and a tiny bit of a wait, but completely worth it. Claire took excellent care of us- she was knowledgeable and helped us decide between various dishes. We had a few different types of oysters, a tuna crudo, halibut ceviche, and a brown butter lobster roll. The horseradish ice with the oysters was so unique and the red wine mignonette was delicious. Claire brought us an ice cream sandwich on the house which was lovely. It was my favorite meal of our trip and I look forward to coming back.

We went early, around 5, and had a 30 min wait. The guy who was taking names was really great and efficient at it. By 6, there was almost a 2 hr wait. We got seated outside which was incredibly pleasant. We got the corn ribs (special), 1/2 dozen oysters, chicken bun, lobster soup, fish dip and tuna tartar. It was all incredibly delicious. Everything we ate was phenomenal.
