The Hinds Head offers a Michelin Star restaurant experience, in a cosy pub setting, and is well worth a visit if you are in the Bray area.
We went for Sunday lunch after a spot of paddleboarding on the Lake at Bray, also recommended, and we were not disapppointed by the £70 for 3 course lunch menu.
The Scotch Egg, a Heston legacy dish, as a pre-appetizer snack is a must but is a £9 supplement, and our appetizers and mains were also delicious. My lamb was a real highlight, sourced from Heston's Fat Duck restaurant, and my wife' roast loin of pork, complete with crackling, did not disappoint either. The cauliflower cheese as a side, also a £9 supplement, is recommended and well worth the additional charge.
Desserts were all very nice but they didn't quite hit the heights of the mains. They were yum but nothing more that you would receive at any gastro pub, they definitely need to add a couple of memorable, standout desserts.
The service was prompt, polite and friendly and the atmosphere had a great Sunday lunch buzz.
Overall, a great place for Sunday lunch and well worth a visit, if you have the funds after a morning on Bray lake; go and enjoy!
Carefully engineered and executed to near perfection, my meal at The Hind's Head was a wonderful introduction to the playful and inventive world of Heston Blumenthal. Every dish was a feast for the senses.
The Mushroom Parfait, whimsically decorated with wild mushrooms, edible flowers and leaves, was rich and smooth—a beautiful balance of bold flavours and delicate presentation. I couldn't resist ordering the iconic Scotch Egg: a perfectly gooey, jammy quail yolk spilling over juicy, panko-coated meat.
The Petit Salé of Duck, the special of the day, was a privilege to taste—an original signature dish dating back to the early days of The Fat Duck. But the undisputed star was the Triple-Cooked Chips and Fish, complete with its signature spray bottles of misting vinegar. A decadent yet elevated interpretation of a beloved classic—easily one of the best I've ever had.
The Hind's Head showcases Heston Blumenthal's eccentric genius: taking the comforting and familiar and reimagining it with extraordinary creativity and technique.
I was taken here for lunch on my birthday and was really made to feel special. The staff were absolutely lovely and were able to explain each dish on the menu in great detail.
The Mushroom Parfait was heavenly and incredibly flavourful.
The Crispy Haddock with the salt and vinegar fries was 10/10.
My girlfriend called ahead and mentioned how much I love chips, and the kitchen prepared a small tasting of different cuts of chips for me to try and review. It really made me feel special and made the whole experience memorable!
I used to live in the U.K. and The Hinds Head was my Dads favourite treat. I moved to Australia 16 years ago and I just had 24 hours in the uk to catch up with my bestie. I suddenly remembered this great place for a long catch up girly lunch and so we booked. I wan’ t sure if it could possibly be as good as I remembered it but if anything it was even better. The food was wonderful, the service was memorable and the ambiance was as I remember it - a pub atmosphere with great food and service! My friend and I had a leisurely 4 hour lunch before I hopped on my flight to Sing! I’m now in the final leg to Melbourne. You’ve got a special place with great staff, awesome food and ambiance! Congratulations for maintaining your standards and I can’t wait to come back again - hopefully less than 16 years next time! Simone x
Taylor is an exceptional waiter with skills you don’t get from just experience but with an innate passion for bringing an amazing experience to everyone in the room. The food was outstanding which is important to both my husband and I as we have both worked in hospitality most of our careers. We thoroughly enjoyed our Anniversary dinner from booking (thank you Decio), to revising and then to having a most wonderful evening that we both will remember and return to experience again. Thank you to all the team. Oh the singer guitarist that was playing that night was also perfect! Great voice, lovely renditions and not so loud we could still have conversation. Brilliant!!
