My wife and I absolutely loved Locavore! From the moment I called to make the reservation with Isabelle to the excellent service from our waitress throughout the evening, the entire experience was fantastic. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and the atmosphere was cozy, warm, and inviting, perfect for either a date night or a family outing.
We both chose the restaurant’s three-course meal option and were extremely happy with every selection. For my meal, I had the Kalbi Beef Skewers appetizer, the Charity Hill Farm Tri Tip Steak as my entrée, and the Goat Cheesecake for dessert. My wife also chose the Kalbi Beef Skewers, followed by the Grilled Carolina Swordfish and the Anson Mills Polenta Cake for dessert. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, a beer, and coffee to finish the evening.
The presentation of each dish was beautiful, and everything tasted outstanding. It’s clear that a great deal of care goes into both the food and the overall dining experience.
Another nice bonus for American Express cardholders is that Locavore is available through Resy, making it eligible for the dining credits offered on certain American Express Gold and Platinum cards.
We’re officially fans of this wonderful restaurant and, God willing, look forward to returning again soon. Cheers!
This was our first time here. We had gift cards to use and picked a very busy weekend day to come. We got the best server, Zeyno, and had incredible service. The kitchen was a little slow with the business of the restaurant. But she checked in with us constantly and was a very attentive server. The food was really good and the atmosphere is great. Check out the roof top bar. Make reservations if you’re on time constraints. Give the kitchen and servers grace as they are growing and this is going to be a phenomenal local establishment. Ask for Zeyno if you can - you won’t be disappointed.
We came in as a family of 3 for brunch on a Saturday soon after they opened. The place is quaint and nicely setup/decorated. The brunch menu has a nice assortment of delicious items to choose from. They also have a full brunch cocktail list (Bloody Mary, Mimosa, etc). I was interested in a Bloody Mary, but service seemed to be a little amiss while we were there as the bartender wasn’t there and the server wasn’t able to tell us about the Bloody Mary (do they make their own mix, description, etc), so we just opted for water with brunch.
The brunch items we got were all amazing! Their sausage gravy is made with chorizo, which adds a very nice, smokey touch to the typical biscuits and gravy and it came out with a pair of perfectly poached eggs. Their burger was beautiful and perfectly made and the beef was a very tasty, nice blend. The buns was incredible! Their fried chicken sandwich was excellent as well. Great batter, tender and moist chicken, and the toppings were great too. French fries were piping hot and flavorful too.
So, the food was great, but the service was amiss. Would we return? Most definitely! I just mark up these services issues to having freshly opened for the day and maybe being a little short staffed. Hopefully the next visit would hit on all cylinders.
Great high end addition to downtown. Note: I recommend going Sun-Thu to take advantage of the prix fixe option (otherwise this place can get pricey fast).
Visited with a friend and we both went with the prix fixe option ($48 for any starter, entree, and dessert) which I appreciate being open to the whole menu rather than limited selection. Our waitress was an absolute joy, she made recommendations and was a great chat throughout the visit.
The food came out with reasonable spacing between dishes and was plated beautifully. The beef skewers with phenomenal and my friend loooooved the potato soup. The fish was great (though the skin was maybe a little scorched) and the petite fillets looked impeccable. I admittedly did not like the peppercorn pavlova but my friend liked it so much we swapped - and I really enjoyed the cheesecake (nice and tart).
The interior is very warm and welcoming and despite being a little tight we never felt like we were bumping elbows with our neighboring table.
Very excited to try this place again when the me I rotates and to come back in warmer weather to check out their upstairs bar (which apparently has a separate menu).
The food at Locavore was delicious! The cocktails were as well. The Pink Lady cocktail was to die for, tasted like the pink drink from Starbucks. Yum! The pork, beef and chicken dishes were cooked to perfection. The chicken was so tender and melts in your mouth. I really appreciate that the ingredients are locally sourced as well and that the flavor combinations were interesting but not under satiating. The waitstaff were super friendly, helpful and attentive even on a busy Friday night. Overall, it was a bit pricey but being happy with the meal and the drinks made it hurt a bit less. We will definitely be returning!
