A cherished institution for over 75 years, Mike's Deli is located in the Arthur Avenue Marketplace, the heart of the historic Little Italy in the Bronx. It's known for its authentic Italian deli experience and traditional preparation.
Customer Perception
Customers praise the incredible food, particularly the large and delicious Italian sandwiches, and the authentic deli atmosphere. Some reviews highlight it as a legacy on a plate, worth waiting for. However, there are also negative reviews citing terrible service, issues with food preparation, and unhelpful owners.
Given the mention of long waits and it not being fast food, visiting during off-peak hours might be ideal. Weekdays outside of lunch hours could offer a more relaxed experience.
Absolutely TERRIBLE place and HORRIBLE SERVICE and OWNERS ARE AWFULL!!!
I ordered sandwich that suppose to be with pesto sauce and balsamic vinaigrette which he didn’t bother to put on, and when I confront him he yell at me saying that he did put some! Also, there was big chunk of hard plastic or glass was in my sandwich and he said that it’s comes with prosciutto! And worst of all he didn’t want to refund my money and my tip! I don’t care if you 40 year Olin business,it’s DISGUSTING OWNER AND PLACE ALL TOGETHER! Make sure to check your order, otherwise they stealing your money by falsely claiming about their menu!!!
So nasty boss lady with running nose, that she wipes and touches the food, and Mike refused to give my money back by saying that they prepared soup for me… and I have to take it! Yes,that’s right, and it take 25 min! I don’t trust that place anyway! So now my money plus tips on disputes!
It’s a filthy place that doesn’t deserve your business!!! There is plenty Italian nice and clean places to go to!
I was visiting from Miami & my friend took me here in November. I was traumatized how good the sandwiches are , i was so impressed that when i visited San Francisco for new years i went to a high rated deli and it wasn’t even close to Mikes deli . Now in January i got to go back and now i took some new friends 🤣❤️😂. From now on i have to go each time i go to NY 🙌🏼
This isn’t just a deli—it’s legacy on a plate. The moment you step in, there’s an unmistakable sense of authenticity. No shortcuts. No pretense.
Just tradition, done right. If you coming and there's a long wait. It's worth the WAIT. This isn’t fast food.
It’s heritage. Precision. Flavor with purpose. Consistent, authentic, and deeply satisfying.
An true Arthur Avenue staple with great price as they possibly can be during these Mandami times.
Incredible food and even better red wine, I wish I bought a bottle. Had the Il Montone Ram Special on focaccia. The sandwiches are huge so splitting one was the perfect portion for us. Cannot wait to go back!
It has a beautiful Mercado feeling with tons of Italian food, old-fashioned meat market, and deli, but it's very touristy with lots of tourists instead of native New Yorkers, so want to avoid all the tourist attraction, people arrive early, food is great.
