Customer Perception
Customer perception is generally very positive, with many guests being repeat visitors. The hotel is highly lauded for its unbeatable ski-in/ski-out location, comfortable and well-maintained rooms, and the outstanding service provided by the management and reception teams. The on-site ski shop staff are also frequently highlighted for their efficiency and expertise. However, some recent reviews indicate a decline in food quality compared to previous years, with specific mentions of disappointing dishes like 'rancid foie gras' and poorly made cocktails. The service from some waiting staff was described as 'shambolic' or 'gap year like', and the atmosphere can sometimes be chaotic with small children.
The hotel offers spa treatments and features 38 rooms and 6 stylish duplex lofts, many overlooking the piste or mountain. It is situated in Courchevel 1650, a location known for reliable snow conditions without the significant altitude effects on sleep. The hotel also features live bands for après-ski entertainment.
The ideal time to visit Portetta Hotel is during the winter ski season, given its prime ski-in/ski-out location and focus on the ultimate ski experience in Courchevel Moriond.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years, and it never fails to impress. The accommodation regardless of room type you book is of the highest standard, and the level of service throughout the hotel is outstanding.
The management team are always very accessible and super helpful, I think more than I've seen in any other hotel in which I have stayed over the years. That culture clearly filters through to the rest of the staff: reception and room service are excellent, and nothing ever seems too much trouble. A special mention goes to the maintenance man, who went above and beyond by fitting snow socks to our car for the journey home which was much appreciated.
The location is the icing on the cake, sitting right on the edge of the piste for true skiing convenience. Courchevel 1650 also hits the perfect balance for us: high enough to offer reliable snow, but not so high that altitude affects sleep significantly.
An outstanding hotel in every respect, and one we’re always happy to return to.
We stayed here for the 2nd time, in a standard room, first time being 10 years ago when this hotel was truly upmarket, when the food was of a much higher standard and the clientele was still British but mostly couples or families with teenage children.
This time around, the chaos reigned: small children were running a-mock, the food was mostly disappointing (we were served rancid foie gras!) and the service was shambolic! The bar staff need to brush up on cocktail ingredients and learn some barista skills. It’s incomprehensible that in the middle of the French Alps the bar staff doesn’t know how to make a pot of cafetière or Negroni (it was so watery due to lack of gin).
The food at breakfast was good with only one off-day when we were serve inedible omelettes.
The best service in the hotel was provided by the ski shop, who’d bring you your ski boots and skies and put them back away the end of the day. The reception team were polite and helpful but most of the waiting staff were gap year like students.
Location is still the highlight feature of the hotel and if the cocktails were up to the scratch, the hotel terrace and live bands would have given us a great apre ski moment .
Great place to stay in Courchevel 1650. The staff and service were fantastic. The restaurant was great. The rooms, the position (ski in ski out) without peer. It comes with its own ski and rental shop. Skis are waiting for you in the morning and taken from you at night. Boots are racked and dried overnight. The ski staff know all there is to know about ski equipment, ski conditions, weather etc. l can't rate this place highly enough.
Simply the best ,the hotel is in a perfect location for ski in and out.
The hotel is cosy beautifully decorated with a welcoming atmosphere and staff.
The food is delicious especially when the sun is shining sitting outside on the amazing terrace.
It’s my happy place .
Merci
This hotel is fabulous, and I will be recommending them to everyone. Portetta couldn’t do enough for us. As first-time skiers, we were clueless, but the hotel made it easy and completely stress-free. From recommending ski instructors to making lunch reservations at restaurants on our behalf, organising our equipment hire in their on-site ski room, and having our ski passes waiting for us on Check-in. Nothing was too much trouble. The service was excellent, and the food was terrific. We stayed on a half-board basis and had breakfast and dinner in the hotel daily; the food was always delicious. The location was also excellent. The hotel was ski-in/ski-out, adding to the ease of our overall exceptional experience. I don’t have one negative comment. They were brilliant! Thank you, Portetta. We will most definitely be back.
