Redroaster Brighton is Brighton's original coffee roastery, known for its speciality coffee, all-day brunch, cocktails, and dinner. It operates two venues, with the one at 29a New Road being a modern, beautifully designed restaurant located near the Brighton Dome and Theatre Royal. It's a popular spot for casual dining, offering a reliable choice for everything from a quick coffee to a full meal, including a highly-rated bottomless brunch.
Customers generally praise Redroaster for its excellent coffee, delicious cakes and pastries, and beautifully executed food. The ambiance is described as warm, modern, and pleasant, with friendly and professional service. Many highlight it as a great spot for groups and appreciate the reasonable pricing for the quality. However, some negative feedback includes issues with takeaway coffee cup design, occasional inaccuracies in dish preparation (e.g., missing ingredients like crab), and instances of slow service or challenges with accommodating complex dietary restrictions.

A modern and beautiful space with a very pleasant design and atmosphere. The coffee tasted excellent, full of rich flavor and character. The cakes and pastries were fresh and delicious as well. The only downside was the takeaway coffee cups — their design made them quite uncomfortable to drink from. I would suggest reconsidering these cups, as they are not very user-friendly for customers
Had a really disappointing lunch here yesterday. Ordered the crab eggs benny, but what I actually got was just a standard eggs Benedict with absolutely 0 crab.
Flagged this with the server, they said it should be there on the side and went to check with the kitchen. They came back 3 minutes later with the wildest excuse claiming the crab was "mixed into the sauce." Come on!
I’d already eaten some of it by then sure, but it was completely impossible not to see that it was literally just plain hollandaise.
Looking at photos in the other reviews now, what I was served was obv not the same dish.
Why lie to your customers? You're a big fancy restaurant, you dont need to be cheap. The dishonesty is quite disgusting really.
Excellent cafe bistro serving beautiful wonderfully executed food. We stopped by for an early brunch before heading to seven sisters. We did an ice turbo which is like an iced mocha with good caffeine and laced with hazelnut, and an iced strawberry matcha (what a pretty presentation). For food, we tried the pulled pork Benedict with potato pave, a roast pork sandwich with maple coated roast potatoes and roasted Brussel sprout salad side, and a warm chicken salad. Overall very delicious… although I think the roast pork in the sandwich is the same as the pulled pork in the Benedict… would have been good to actually be roast pork. Service impeccable and friendly. Warm ambience filled with smiles and happy laughter from tables around us.
We were a group of 8 having Sunday brunch at Redroaster (side of the Dome) in Brighton before returning home. We had spent a fun weekend celebrating the lovely bride to be in our group. Brunch was the icing on the cake. The staff was uniformly polite, professional, and genuinely cheerful. The food was delicious and truly reasonably priced for the locale and quality of the ingredients. I had the hot fish wrap and it was something I would definitely come back and eat again!! According to a few of my fellow diners the Bloody Mary’s were very good, indeed. Great for a group. So relaxed. And no hassle paying individually. Highly recommend!
We found the Redroaster just by the Theatre Royal. I can not eat wheat, gluten, dairy, or soya. I explained this to the first waitress, who found another waitress, We then waited 10 more minutes to get menus, as the waitress drifted past us with menus for other customers. We eventually got her attention & managed to order food after 20 minutes. I ordered the steak with salad, as this was about all I could eat safely, my son the chilli crab linguini with fries on the side. We got our "large" pepsis, which were less than half a pint. Mine was only just over half full, as I didn't want ice on a cold day.
The food arrived, but the pepper sauce was in a metal ramakin on the plate, but it contained dairy. I did double-check & I couldn't have it. I had to ask for any dressing on the mixed leaves, no other salad with the steak.
It was disappointing. I ordered a second drink. I watched 3 waitresses chatting for 10 minutes while I waited for my drink. I did catch the waitresses eye eventually & she gave me the look of oh, I forgot your drink. We had finished our food by the time it arrived.
We paid the bill & got to the Theatre on time.
