Yugen Dining

If u want a cute backdrop for pics. Perfect place. If you want good food and service. Don’t come here. The food was extremely overpriced for what we had. I came with 2 others and none of us could say we enjoyed any dishes. Spend $200 on a scotch fillet steak which was mainly fat (see image below). Massive fat cap throughout the middle of all the pieces of steak. We asked why was this the case considering it was a scotch fillet and the waiter said “all our cuts are like this. Even if we remake you one, it’ll be the same.” If all the cuts were that fatty, someone should’ve let us know because then we definitely wouldn’t order a $200 steak that we had to eat around to find pieces without large amounts of fat. We left majority of the steak but only got a 20 percent discount on it. Still not worth a single penny. All the other dishes were extremely average and salty. Prawn toast was oily and not worth the cost. Toothfish wasn’t fresh and was very salty. Tofu was nothing special. Wagyu bao buns were just ok. This place is definitely not worth the high cost as the food quality does not match the prices. We travelled interstate for this and boy was it dissapointing and regretful. Will not be returning or recommending to anyone. Edit: It has been over a week since Yugen claimed that someone will reach out. Silence from their end. This shows their extreme lack of care. Everyone stay clear from this restaurant. Honestly, it was the worst dining experience I have ever had...even internationally. Horrible food and even worse customer service. Judgy and unwelcoming staff. Had better food and service casually dining in China Town in Melbourne. This says alot. I gave them a chance to make things right by reaching out to me. I have been waiting for over a week. This place is full of it!! 0 stars for everything including customer service.

I had a great dining experience at Yugen Dining. The ambience was relaxed but still had that full-house, high-energy vibe, which made the night feel really special. The food was delicious across the board, especially the oysters, which were fresh and not fishy at all. The steak was cooked to perfection, exactly how you’d want it at a fine dining spot. Drinks were also spot on and complemented everything really well. Overall, a really solid fine dining experience with great vibes. Highly recommend!

Amazing dinner and service. Came here for our anniversary and the night was perfect. Massive shoutout to Mikayla (I hope I’m spelling it right), who looked after us and ensured my allergies were catered for. She was lovely and such a gem. Really hope when we come back we get to have her be our waiter again. The food was fantastic as we chose the chef experience. Highlights were the eggplant, shokupan and steak! The drinks were also lovely and there’s so much variety for anyone wanting non alcoholic options. Thank you yugen for the incredible night 🙂

The food was amazing and definitely worth the price. I highly recommend the fried rice—the texture was absolutely perfect. We received top-notch service even though the place was incredibly popular and packed. Just a heads up: make sure to arrive on time for your booking as they do enforce a seating time limit!

Yūgen was an incredible dining experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, beautifully presented, and packed with flavour. The attention to detail in every dish was exceptional, and the service was polished, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere is stunning and creates the perfect setting for a special occasion. A truly memorable experience and one of Melbourne’s best restaurants. Highly recommend! ✨🥢🍸💕
