This establishment at 202 M St SE in Washington D.C.'s Navy Yard area is a gelato shop, not explicitly identified as 'District M ATL'. It operates within a shared space alongside a pizza vendor (Wise Guys) and a sushi vendor. The shop offers ample outdoor seating and a lovely rooftop space, making it a popular spot for desserts near the Navy Yard marina and water fountains.
Customers consistently praise the gelato for being delicious, fresh, and visually appealing, with generous portions and a wide variety of flavors. The staff is frequently described as super nice, friendly, and accommodating. The location is considered excellent for its proximity to attractions like Canal Park and water fountains. A common negative point mentioned was the condition of the shared bathrooms, which were sometimes messy.

The gelato-making process was guided by an Italian chef, contributing to an authentic, Italian-reminiscent experience. The shop is part of a shared space, co-located with a pizza vendor (Wise Guys) and a sushi vendor, offering a convenient dessert option after a meal from the adjacent eateries.
Sunday evenings are suggested as an ideal time to visit, benefiting from plentiful free parking in DC and the opportunity to enjoy the nearby water fountains.

In the mood for ice cream after walking along the marina. We stumbled upon the closest spot but their line was out of the door. We looked via Google Maps for another dessert spot and was directed here. What a fantastic find. The gelato is amazing delicious. I enjoyed my Oreo flavor. My friend got a double flavor and enjoyed hers. We plan to bring our kids back to enjoy the water fountains one evening and try the pizza too. This is definitely a cool place to venture. I believe DC offers free parking on Sunday’s. Parking was pretty plentiful on this Sunday evening. The bathrooms leave everything to be desired - no tissue, just a whole mess for the women’s anyway. But I can’t fault the Gelato venue for this as they share a space with the Pizza vendor and the Sushi vendor. There is ample seating outside and a lovely rooftop space for pictures. The Navy Yard marina is just three blocks away.
I hope you find this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs up. Thank you.
Delicious gelato ... a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Nice way to cap off a slice or 2 from the adjacent pizza place - Wise Guys
The staff is super awesome. Very friendly and accommodating.
Portions are generous and there’s tons of flavors. Love this place!!
Went for their soft opening after grabbing a slice of pizza at wise guys. I was mesmerized to see all the options they had of gelato. The employees there are super nice and they informed me that they were taught by an Italian chef in how to make these masterpieces of gelato. I got myself pistachios, raspberry cheesecake, and coffee in a large bowl. They are having a promotional discount of 50% until Sunday (4/7) and paid about $3. My first bite was heaven being melted into my tongue! I am definitely going back and wouldn't mind paying for the full price. It is super delicious, fresh, and appealing to see.
A great spot to get a dessert fix during our walk around town! The counter lady was nice with quick service! There are plenty of outdoor seating for you to enjoy your food and the weather.
The display of ice-cream inside was very reminiscent of Italy. The staff and service was great, very nice and patient. This ice cream shop is in a great location to be able to get the ice cream and walk through canal park or sit on all the benches in front of the water fountain.
