El Ensayo Jazz Bar is a popular and often-booked establishment in Alacant, known for its friendly and hard-working staff, cozy 'living room' atmosphere, and eclectic decor. Despite its name, it primarily plays recorded blues, alternative rock, and jazz music rather than hosting live performances. It offers generous portions of well-made, affordable food.
Customers consistently praise the excellent food, generous portions, and the friendly, attentive service. The grilled octopus and oxtail croquettes are frequently highlighted as outstanding. Many appreciate the cozy atmosphere and affordable prices, making it a recommended spot for a weekend visit to Alicante. However, some note that the 'Jazz Bar' name can be misleading as it typically features recorded music rather than live jazz.
While named a 'Jazz Bar,' the establishment is more of a casual bar and restaurant that plays a variety of recorded music, including blues, alternative rock, and jazz. It's known for its homemade tapas and a welcoming, familiar ambiance.
The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday. It is very popular and often fully booked, especially on weekends, so making a reservation is highly recommended.
