Elbulli

I really enjoyed my trip to the el Bulli museum. We spent about 3 hours there (11-2pm) and followed it with lunch at Cala Montjoi (really good!) and a swim at the Montjoi beach which we had almost to ourselves. If you ever wondered what the hype was all about and why the most famous chef in the world closed down his restaurant at the height of his fame this museum is for you. It takes you through el bullis humble origins as a beach bar/ grill with mini golf to the most innovative 3 Michelin star restaurant in the world with a 40+ course tasting menu which people would fly in from all over the world to attend. The start of the museum is an outside area devoted to Ferran Adrias legacy project of creating a system for categorising and studying food. I found that part a bit dull but the inside of the restaurant was brilliant and fascinating. There’s a gift shop at the end but no opportunity to have food.
