Indonesian Barbecue

We enjoyed the caviar week dinner with wine pairing. All savory courses had an ample amount of different caviar. The wine pairing were just exceptional. Tip of the hat to the GM Jim who acted as Somm and food server assisting the great staff. Highlight for us was the beef tartare with egg jam and so much caviar!! Village Pub also employs one of the greatest chefs in the Bay Area, CHEF EDALYN GARCIA! She is a diamond in the rough.

It has a good vibe with nice music and comfy seats. I went there for my birthday on 4th of July. It turned all the tables around me came to celebrate their birthday. I found so lucky to celebrate my birthday with so many other people. The food was good and complicated. I chose Cucumber trout esbeche as my appetizer and Dry-aged 38 duck feast with coffe-glazed sweet potato as my entree. The entree was actually very full. They served pretty fast. A good place for birthday celebration!

The Village Pub continues to prove exactly why it’s a Michelin‑starred institution. Sunday brunch on their $85 four-course tasting menu was exceptional from start to finish. The covered outdoor area is cozy and elegant, while the indoor dining room — with its stunning bar and polished atmosphere — feels like classic California luxury done right. Service was outstanding: warm, attentive, and perfectly paced. Portions were impressively generous for a tasting menu, which made the whole experience feel both elevated and genuinely satisfying. We started with the cinnamon roll that is famous for a reason — soft, warm, and finished with a passion‑fruit glaze that made it impossible not to devour. The buckwheat crêpe was another standout, layered with lemon‑ and orange‑zested ricotta that gave every bite a bright, citrusy lift. The caviar and smoked sturgeon course was beautifully done, but the real surprise was the perfectly circular potato chips — crisp, delicate, and almost architectural. Second course brought a thick‑cut brioche (French toast), served with the most incredible rose maple syrup and almond butter. The Alaskan halibut was equally impressive: delicate, flavorful, and executed with the kind of precision you expect from a Michelin kitchen. Dessert was a finale worth lingering over. The apple tart arrived in impossibly thin, layered slices — so beautiful you almost didn’t want to cut into it. And the chocolate soufflé? Easily enough for two, deeply rich, and absolutely meant to be drenched in the Grand Marnier crème they serve alongside it. Don’t skip that part. A flawless brunch — generous, thoughtful, beautifully executed. Five stars without hesitation.

For a Michelin star restaurant, it really did not impress us. We made a reservation weeks in advance for lunch on a Saturday. It was not real busy upon arrival and we were seated immediately. Parking lot and main door is behind the restaurant, not along the main road. We opted for the 5 course lunch tasting menu for $85 where you choose an appetizer, main course, and dessert. The meal started off with a glass of complimentary champagne, it wasn't very good though. We had the warm cinnamon rolls (lemony, warm, fresh), Hokkaido scallops (good, small portion), Saint Simon oysters (tiny oysters), roasted black cod (quality, fresh, simple, basic), petit filet (+$10, steak was cooked perfectly, came with hash brown-like side and 2 eggs cooked to your preference), Chai crepe cake (good, pumpkin ice cream was fantastic), chocolate souffle (+$5, good, almost like a molten lava, big portion). They also gave us complimentary small tea cup size of cauliflower soup (very good), and a lemon cake for our anniversary (ok). Overall, the food was pretty forgetful. We both agreed the cauliflower soup was the best item followed by the desserts Service was pretty good, but not as good as other Michelin restaurants though. Staff were kind and polite. They acknowledged our celebratory meal and were attentive, however, my request for no added salt was not accommodated for any dish despite being repeated and acknowledged Ambiance was ok. As soon as we walked in we both thought it smelled like a musty locker room or bathroom. Not very pleasant, but we knew we would get used to it. There is a full bar area that serves a full a la carte menu (same as table seating menu) that can accommodate walk ins Overall, pretty disappointing for a Michelin star restaurant. I would not recommend it
