New York City's dynamic culinary landscape is experiencing significant shifts as several establishments, including the East Village's Noona's Ice Cream, Uotora, and Kimika, have announced their permanent closure throughout March 2026.
A great little ice cream shop tucked away in East Village with lovely, charismatic staff!!!
The flavors are unique and you're allowed to try up to 2 samples when you visit. I recommend the two most popular and unique - toasted rice flavor and the banana pudding flavor. They also have vegan + gf options if you need those, with everything clearly labeled!
Unlike some other ice cream shops, I don't find the flavors overly sweet! You get a free drizzle and a crumble as well ❤️
This is immediately my new favorite dessert place. The flavors are very unique and actually all so good. Right amount of sweetness and great texture bc they all have a crunch or some type of added element. The sesame drizzle was so delicious I’m going to buy the bottle next time. Got the banana pudding and the toasted rice. So good that I bought a pint of it. The pint was like $14 which is a bit expensive but so worth it imo cause wow so good. The ice cream is $9 ish for 2 scoops and comes with free topping and free drizzle. A really good hefty sized scoops. Also the lady was such a vibe she was so friendly and had great recs. I will be a regular for sure

The most personable, friendly, and knowledgeable staff! Shantel was super accommodating and made the experience amazing. I’m an ice cream lover and have never been to a shop with the level of hospitality and patience. Great recommendations as well and great ice cream. All places should have this level of customer service like her! I wanted to give her a raise! Truly a repeat for me…and the ice cream was delicious too! 10 stars!!!

This is my new favorite ice cream shop! My girlfriend and I were looking for a vegan-friendly place to grab dessert and Noona’s popped up on the map. I’m sooo glad it did! Shantelle and Chinesa were both so sweet, helpful, and fun to chat with. My gf and I loved the flavor options, with unique flavors like black sesame and ube vietnamese coffee and multiple vegan flavors for my girlfriend. I ended up going with the black and white sesame cookie flavor — I’d HIGHLY recommend it. The prices are a bit higher than other ice cream shops, but not that much more than most specialty shops these days, but the topping and drizzle of your choice that come with the scoop made it feel worth the cost, especially since there’s lots of yummy and unique options for that as well. I got mochi topping and red bean drizzle, both of which were perfect additions. Give Noona’s a try for delicious, out-of-the-ordinary ice cream and super cool staff!

Ice cream was well made and not too sweet. Shantel was the sweetest person on Earth! If you were having a bad day, her service and friendliness would light your day up as it did mine. I had black sesame flavor which was really good, and my friend had their best-selling banana pudding flavor and the ube latte one. Highly recommended!
